Hi Dave,

here are demo's of Elite and Manic Miner.

Elite is playable but has some issues:
- No sound in game
- Missile is not hitting object exactly
- Sometimes is the radar corrupted after switching screens

Manic Miner is also playable with some issues:
- The higher keys can not be reached
- High rocks don't kill the Miner
- Miner can jump on monster if monster walks to the right

Elite is very complex to debug and I can't find the problem in Manic Miner.
Maybe I will start debugging the games and issues again but for now I'll leave the games as they are.

Greetings
Kees

Kees,

Both of these are, quite frankly, amazing!

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I'll add them in to the next build.

Last last call for V9.

If there are any bug fixes to Roland's New Atom firmware I will bundle these as well.

I'll do a release over the weekend, so it's ready for anyone that wants to update a ABUG.

Like I wrote in the other topic I will try to update my firmware tomorrow. At the moment I'm very busy with my work. But Atom firmware is also important :D

Hi,

I was reading several Dutch Atom Nieuws magazines and ran into this:

http://atomclub.nl/atom_nieuws/1982/nr4/19824015.htm

It is an extension of an existing Chess program, I think if Kees reads the article above he can decide if it´s relevant for the Atom Software Archive... 8)

Just mopping up the last few bits.

Can someone with Dragon's lair tell me what the filenames are, and how you start it?

I'll then add a menu item for this.

Hi Guys,

Here's V9 Beta 2:
AtomSoftwareArchive_20151115_V9Beta2.zip
Edit: Please use the V9 final release.

Changes since V9 Beta 1:
- Added demo version of Elite (Kees)
- Added demo version of Manic Miner (Kees)
- Added F-14 SID version (Kees)
- Added Type Ahead
- Added Chess program USUR_II (Wim)
- Added menu stub for Dragons's Lair (assuming the executable is *RUN DLAIR)
- Added latest SYSTEM files from Roland for the New Atom (see footnote)
- Updated FPGA Utils to 0.25 that fixes the incorrect speed with BAUD command

I decided not to include the Atom Tube code as it's still pretty experimental, and also no-one else has an Atom Tube yet that it would work against.

I'm not going to make any further additions, but if anyone finds any serious bugs in the next 24-48 hours these can be fixed.

Otherwise, I'll re-release this as V9 next week.

Dave

Footnote for Roland:
- there is now a secret key "R" in top level menu that will run SYS/INIT
- I've updated FPGAUTILS in /SYS to 0.25
- I've added one line in INIT to detect the AVR version of AtoMMC hardware and skip loaded the PIC firmware - this is for AtomFpga

It would be good to get these two change back "upstream" to your master version.

Ah, so I need to create two menu stubs?

Are these *RUN?

Kees,

Any change you could test the DLAIR menu stub in the V9Beta2 and see if it works?

I'll add a second one for DLAIR2M

Hi Guys,

Just in time for ABUG, here's the V9 release:
AtomSoftwareArchive_20151119_V9.zip
(3.33 MiB) Downloaded 58 times
The only change from the last Beta is there are two menu entries for Dragon's Lair.

A full change log for the release can be read in the first post of this thread.

Have fun!

hi,

I have checked 493 files of the Dutch online software archive...

http://atomclub.nl/atomarch/filefind.htm

After the first selection I had 94 files left... :?

After checking these 94 files with the main Stardot game archive list, I still got 41 left... :D

The directories Util and NP do have a notepad file with some comments.

Of course all the files need a little checking, whether these files are useful or not. 8)

Hi Wim,

Any chance you could zip these instead of rar'ing them?

I uninstalled winrar last year when I read:

Anything interesting from the titles?
I wouldn't mind taking a look at:
- MAURICE (nor heard of this, maybe something to do with Maurice Wilkes?)
- BLACKJACK (Bug Byte blackjack is MIA)
- Zombie 2 (depends whether 2 just means a second copy, or a second version)
- Space War 2 (depends whether 2 just means a second copy, or a second version)

Roland helped me out with 1200 baud, and using a spare 6502 I could finally have a look:

MAURICE won't load (SUM error).
BLACK JACK is a simple text based basic program, no author or publisher mentioned in the game or in the code
Zombie 2 is a Dutch piece of scare ware 8)
Space War 2, is Space War by Time Data.

Dave has an excellent Tape recover routine for programs generating SUM errors during loading. Can you record and upload a WAV file of MAURICE so we can have a look?

Thanks!!

Sorry, I forgot to take a look. Too distracted with non-Atom projects.

I'll look tomorrow, and it will definitely get reviewed for V10 of the archive.

Anything specific you think must be included?

just spotted this lot:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acorn-Atom-Ta ... 6016.l4276
and I can see Tangled - A&F, seems not to be in the archive, or in the Really Missing list :?
so, is it ultra rare, and, to the point, is it a game better than Early Warning... :|
anyone bidding on it already, so can clear the path :?:
tangledA&F.jpg
also a BugByte tape, but no info on what's on it.... (BAC?x?y? or BAL?x?y? on cover)

I started looking through these a few days ago, and then got distracted (again!).

My original aim with the archive was to focus on all commercially available atom software. We've obviously broadened out to include all published (books, magazines, etc) software, and notable (i.e. interesting/useful/amazing) individual contributions.

I'm keen that there is some threshold, as I don't really to include stuff that is broken, unfinished, or trivial.

Back to you, is there anything you have seen in that bundle that you would like included? Same goes for anyone else.

Maybe we need to have a few other people take a look as well. Any takers?

Dave
