Hello from Holmfirth!

Post by ScurvyGeek » Wed May 20, 2020 9:47 am

Hello all,

I'm a long time Acorn user and admirer with a small collection nowadays consisting of an A3000 (ARM3 Upgrade, 4MB, RISCOS3, Serial Port, SCSI Podule) and a currently non-functional but otherwise very clean Model B.

I was first introduced to Acorn in the mid-1980's as my Dad was a teacher and used to bring home a B, later a Master and then a variety of Archimedes during the school holidays. Used to go to all the shows in Harrogate each year, too.

My own computer was a Spectrum +2 as my folks couldn't afford an Acorn but Acorn was where my heart was.

Had a few interesting machines over the years I've had to let go due to storage constraints etc. - Master Turbo, Master with an internal Z80 CoPro running CP/N (sic) and a weird prototype laserdisc system (not a Domesday system alas - I'd never let one of those go!)

I'll be happy to get my B up and running. My A3000 is good to go after repairing leaked battery damage (oops!)

Looking forward to interacting with you all!

-Austin.

Good luck.

You're from a lovely area, though you won't need telling. I used to have an aged relative who lived opposite Park Head Fisheries and took the opportunity to combine visits with walks around the area (Diggle dam etc). I even have a couple of Ashley Jackson paintings from that (pre-LOTSW) period.
