Colour scheme

Post by dominicbeesley » Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:00 pm

I'm currently boarding out the room that will become my main office/workshop and I'm going to go for a 1970's theme. I'm thinking maybe some bold wavy/curved stripes on the walls but not sure. Whatever I do I'd like to include the BBC Micro's colour scheme does anyone know what the pantone/web colours for the case, escutcheon, keys, cursors, function keys etc is? If not I'll have to clean one up and bring it along to the paint shop!

I've tried matching off pictures from the web/my camera/phone but am getting pretty variable results!

Well, I guess nobody knew the colours but before the lockdown I went to B&Q and tried matching there.

I picked 7 colours from the Valspar range that closely matched some things in my collection

Code: Select all

Stripe #	Colour Name Collection Item
======		===========		=============
0 Subtle Glow BBC/Master case
1 Purple Splendor -
2 Steelhead Redd BBC B function key
3 Park Cafe BBC B cursor key
4 Mandarin Blue Roland's Blue Atom
5 Bengal Tiger - complements above
6 Chocolate Bonbon	-

The painting is slow going, it dries quickly but is taking a long time to cure hard enough to take masking tape. I tried masking with silicone - where it works it's great but where it doesn't peel off nicely its a real pain in the arse as it either needs cutting off and repainting or tearing off and a complete retouch. Kind of wish I'd not started!

Thanks lads.

I've now run out of one of the main colours (brown) so I'm hoping to have to leave one of the walls until b&q are back up and running.

I was looking at big print wallpaper like that but it is very expensive. My sister found this place for sale, a real time warp . I could have just moved straight in!

This was our wallpaper in the '70s. :D

I don't think there's a lot of information about the official Beeb colour. The only reference I've seen to it is in the FileStore Service manual which describes the Communicator-coloured and Master-coloured varieties. It says (by inference) that the Communicator colour is Acorn Specification 0920,208 Pantone 537. It also says by inference that the Master colour is Acorn Specification 0920,000 but doesn't say the colour!!
