I'll be there for all three days, probably a no-kitter as I'll mostly be out in the main museum :-)

roland - I'm pretty sure I can arrange for the museum to supply a VGA monitor .. would a flatpanel suffice or a CRT?
As I have only half a table for my Atom and laptop I prefer a flatpanel. Thank you.

Hi Jason, can you put me down for half a table forthe full weekend please?

I don't think I'll bring the C64 & Amiga this time for another Stunt Car Racer back to back - unless specifically requested. Elminster and others saw it last ABUG & spoiler alert... the Master has the frame rate edge (albeit the Amiga has higher res) and is less brown (C64 I am looking your way).

Put me down as a no-kitter for Saturday only, and will try to stay for the talks too.

Talking about batch .... which sounds like badge. Is it possible to make a badge for every ABUG attendee? That makes it a lot easier to recognize people. At least for me :)

It's possible.. and I've done it before. But it's time consuming (and I've got quite a bit to do with this event already).. I might still have a bunch of plastic pouch things hanging around. If I find the time, I'll print badges out, bring the plastic pouch things along with some scissors.. and perhaps attendees could construct their respective badges when they arrive :)

Does claiming a place for the Abug event guarantee a seat in the talks? Or do we need to buy a ticket from the Museum website?

I'll be quite early in Cambridge, I expect to arrive about 12:00 at the Acorn Guest House on Friday. I want to spent a few hours in the museum so I can help you to assemble the badges. Or I can even make them on forehand when all tables are booked and we know all the attendees.

Yes it guarantees a seat. No additional ticket needed. Basically anyone who's paid the museum entry fee can come to the talk.

OK, I'll wait for your pm.

Just another question, about trains in the UK.... Can I just like here in the Netherlands go to a train station and buy a ticket or do I need a reservation?

I looked at https://www.thetrainline.com/book/resul ... Jo%2BDo%3D and it says limited availability. Don't trains just ride in the UK like they do here in the Netherlands? So buy a ticket and get in....

I also looked for a taxi but a return from Stansted to Cambridge costs even more than a flight from Eindhoven to London

I just booked here when I was there in June. Worked like a charm. I will do the same this time, just have not yet booked my flight.

You can buy on the day at the station. Tickets ahead of time can be cheaper. Just try to avoid peak time if you can because the ticket prices are much higher than off peak.

In addition to the advice already given, the folks at railforums.co.uk have a forum specifically for advice on fares. You may want to ask them too.

You can pay twice as much, or more, on the day. "Limited availability" are the cheapest tickets, with a finite supply, which need to be bought rather early. In this case, it's a relatively short journey at relatively low price even on the day, but the difference can be eye-watering.

This site is rather good:

Several no-kitter places still left.

Hi Jason

I’ll take the last full table for the three days, subject to another retro event not clashing (the date has not yet been fixed, 1 in 4 chance...). I’ll let you know either way as soon as I can.

I've just realised that I'm not on the list, I was sure I had put my name down for a table either "on display" in the main hall or in the classroom, but I must have posted just after someone else and not noticed that I needed to re-submit as I was jest leaving the house.
Would I be welcome in the main hall? If not, half a table/no kitter will be fine if there is still one left.

I have a full table saturday, but it is free Sunday if you want to nab that before others. Then it would just be Saturday as half.

Booking update

I've added Dave (Arcadian) on last half table.. and then Richard (tricky) somewhere in the main hall ..

tricky I was surprised you hadn't posted and was hoping that indeed you would put your "tricky gaming" display on in the main hall. So I suggest we have your kit out there..and of course you can then roam in and out of the classroom as you please :)

So if we go with the above, that leaves one full table available for sunday only.

Cheers,
Jason
