The Publisher by PMS ROM

Post by DutchAcorn » Sat Jan 05, 2019 12:24 pm

As requested in this post: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16286

This is a 64K ROM image. The ROM needs a carrier board to work in a BBC.

Many thanks for this, now to see if I can decipher the banking.

Any documentation with it, and could you post a photo of the ROM and carrier board?

Yes, I have the user guide for it and the utilities disk (which seems to be mainly for additional fonts). I'll put scanning / imaging them on my to do list...

Thanks. Even though I don't know how to confirm it's working you've confirmed it uses the Inter-Base PAL as I suspected, so am confident it works.

Do you think you have anything else I'd be interested in? Going through adverts there are quite a few ROMs from 1987-1990 that are not archived, some of which have carrier boards too. It's looking like quite a few third party ROM publishers opted to use the Computer Concepts PAL carrier boards.

I also have the Master ROM and the WE Quest ROM, both are on carrier boards.

Both are of interest. Already have Quest Paint 1.04 and 1.10, yours may be another version. I have Master ROM 1.01 and 1.03 but not sure whether the images are hacked to work in consecutive banks, so a genuine 32K image will be useful to confirm, and may be another version.

I can save you the trouble of imaging the disk, unless it's different... TITLE is Publisher v2 (33)

Thanks for that. Thought it was just the Font Designer but then noticed the examples for each word processor, and worked out how to use it.
Enable Publisher with *PUBLISHER, then enter your favourite word processor and load an example text from the utility disc.
Select preview mode with *PREVIEW, this redirects printer output to the screen, then Print.

=D> Wow, it's so nice to see Duncan's 'poetry' again. I wrote The Publisher back in 1987 just after starting Uni. I was recently wondering if I'd ever see it in action again :D
