MAME and ROMs

Post by Coeus » Fri Sep 14, 2018 10:51 pm

I tried running the BBC B in MAME just now and got this:
Screenshot from 2018-09-14 23-47-52.png
This seems to be suggesting I need to track down ROM images for a whole bunch of disc upgrades I have never seen before I can run the machine. I tried searching to see how I can get past this and various results suggest this screen is just a warning but it refuses to start the machine.

Any ideas how to make it work?

As it can't find the OS ROM either, it looks like it's not looking in the correct folder/directory.

There is a bbcb.zip on the mame ROM path (~/.mame/roms) which contains:

Code: Select all

$ unzip -l bbcb.zip
Archive: bbcb.zip
  Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 basic1.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 basic2.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 ch103.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 ddfs-1.53.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 ddfs223.rom
     8192 1996-12-24 23:32 dfs09.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 dfs144.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 dnfs.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 os10.rom
    16384 1996-12-24 23:32 os12.rom
     8192 1996-12-24 23:32 zdfs-0.90.rom
    16384 2006-10-14 17:06 phroma.bin
--------- -------
   180224 12 files
so it has two possible OS ROMs including the common OS 1.20. Running with -verbose shows it is looking in this ZIP file.
