Ok, nice game, feels like we did this one a few seasons ago......

Here's a starter score, the scores are going very much higher than this, for me and everyone else I'm sure.

Woohoo! DIG-DUG!
I loved Dig-Dug on my Atari 2600 back when I was a kid.
It's not quite as playable as the Atari version and it's missing the fantastic music but I'm quite enjoying it.
First few goes yielded:

Ooh, I hoped I'd chose something we haven't played in the competition before. I used to like this game BITD. It's a bit annoying how the dragon's flames pass through the earth though, watch out for that... 23,120.

Hey Chrisn,

You may have, I just remember playing it somewhere along the line. I may have been testing out games for choice so don't despair. It's a great game that I suck at but it is fun.

Had a little play to get a score on the board, very busy atm so not sure if I'll get time to practice much more.

Nice smooth graphics and decent sound, ghosts keep tricking me into thinking they'll change back to monsters as soon as they get back to a tunnel but they surprise me constantly by staying in ghost form.

Yes, this isn't a bad one ... Only 5 6 levels though, and not sure if the difficulty increases when you go back to level 1. Getting better... 47,180

Made it through all the levels, level 1 the second time around felt like the monsters turned into ghosts more often, could have been coincidence or my playing poorly trying to crack 40k...

So, to answer a question posed earlier.... it seems the next time around the 'robots' are much smarter.

I got to the first level with all 3 lives and had no problem losing them all quite quickly.

I have a few questions if anyone has time or the knowledge... I made it to level 6 (others say all 5 levels??) but my score seems a lot lower than others, is that because people are making it through the levels and then completing more levels afterwards?

My strategy has been to complete the level as fast as possible for a bigger bonus and ignore the treasure unless it is very close, is this what others are doing or is there some other scoring bounty I have missed? Squishing a monster with a boulder appears to give 500-1000 points but that seems like it would waste more in bonus time trying to contrive enough situations for the extra squishing points.

Another thing I noticed in practice mode with save states is that the level sometimes ends before all monsters are dead, does anyone know what might trigger that situation? If the level ends early more bonus would be awarded ala higher scores.

There are 6 levels ... I originally wrote 5 by mistake. For my last score, I think I got to level 3, second time around. I'm following the same strategy as you, but I'll try to use boulders as much as I can.

I just noticed a bug in the gane. There were only the 2 green monsters left on level 1, I dropped a boulder on one of them, the other was far away, and the game made the boulder dropping sound twice and moved to the next level.

I noticed the same things as you two. I play it the same way, as quickly as possible through the levels, boulders if convenient and moneybags if close. Otherwise it's onward and outward to a quick finish to the level.

I came across that bug twice when playing and couldn't put my finger on it. Your explanation sounds plausible though so who knows.
