this is weird, unless it's the new Win10 update (probably  ), or Firefox Quantum 6101 :?
was going to post a new high score in the Jetpac thread (posted twice prior), but it repeats my prev post
it's like I pressed edit on my last post, rather than post reply..... :-k

Yes, I've seen that too, since the forum software was updated. (I haven't had it happen for at least a week though.)

Ditto. But usually only does it on iPad/iPhone, seems to not do it on Mac.

I think I saw it on Chrome, but put it down to the new draft saving default and tidied it manually.

I think the position of the reply and edit icons has swapped when the forum software was updated as I've pressed what I thought was quote and ended up editing other people's posts then clicked back and seen I've actually clicked edit. I could be wrong though.

The text of your previous post appearing when you press "reply" is due to the save quick draft feature. Just delete the text and then write your new post. I think it's when composing your earlier post, it auto-saves your post at the same time as you hit "submit".

For moderators and administrators, we have the problem that the edit and quote 'buttons' are available for every post, so if we don't think about what we are doing, it's possible to accidentally tap a button and find we are editing a post rather than editing a new post with quoted text #-o. I did this a number of times when I first became a moderator and this was before the forum update. Not had a problem since (but I'm more careful especially when using touch screen devices, one bump on the train and it quickly can all go horribly wrong as my finger lands on the wrong part of the touch screen...).

Just had this happen to me in a PM!

I hit Reply, only to find, in the Edit box, a previous reply to a different person from a different conversation entirely. I deleted the text in the Edit box, but didn't notice that the Subject was also from the wrong thread, so I ended up sending someone a PM with a Subject from a different conversation with another person!

I did that to Daniel the other day. Noticed and changed everything except the Subject, so he got a complete random subject in a reply to something he sent me. Always does it on ipad, occasionally does it on Mac.

I did the same thing replying to a PM this morning! Remembered to delete the contents but forgot to change the subject

Is this really the forum software's default behaviour?

Shouldn't it be keeping track of which thread (or PM-convo) the draft was last saved in (and then only load the draft if you're replying to the same thread)?

Have you tried turning off autodrafts?

Am gonna try disabling the "Load last draft" option.

It's in User Control Panel -> Board preferences -> Auto Drafts.
