WE Wapping Editor Discs

Post by danielj » Sat Oct 31, 2015 6:45 pm

Hullo all,
I've ended up with the Wapping Editor ROM, (and support ROM) - so far as I can tell this requires some discs to be useful, and I can't find images anywhere. Does anyone happen to have copies that they could SSD-ify (or know where they exist already)? And as an extra grovel, is there a scanned copy of the manual floating about?

Any help much appreciated :)

Yes, as you figured gents but even so....

...I'm pretty sure I have the manual Daniel [nice rhymes there] and I have a fleeting recollection of seeing some discs labelled 'Wapping Editor' as I one day flicked through one of my countless boxes but for now, let's default to an assumed yes for the former and a no for the latter. I deffo won't have time to scan the manual myself but I could lend [viz post] it to you for you to do it?

( I will though need about a week to get my sh act together if nobody else comes good - I'm currently hardly even managing to tread water with my Beeb stuff, just ask the MGC project manager....... )

No rush Martin - but that would be ace if you could. I'll scan it then pop it back your way.

Ok Daniel, I've sent you an email from my Yahoo to your Gmail so you can refresh your home address for me. I'll then let you know when I get the manual away, prob next Friday or Saturday I'd think....

I found a box or two with this in, but the only thing I uncovered was a utility disk. Browsing through the pages of the manual it might mostly all be ROM based.
I'll get it imaged later today :)

Fab, thanks billc :) -> I'll upload the ROM and utility ROM to this thread a bit later. IanB wrote it I believe? It's 64k on a carrier, so won't just work out of the box, as it were.

Yes, I wrote Wapping Editor, well most of it, the font and text editors were written by others but I did the mode 0 paint and typesetting, the overall integration and support rom. I'll have a look in my archives and see what I can find.

Found two original disks with versions 1.20 and 1.30 of the utilities. Thought i'd found some other copies, so was going to check if they were any different, but i seem to have mislaid them

Daniel - I haven't forgotten but the manual wasn't where I thought it would be, it was actually buried much deeper in the vaults. However, after some serious rooting, it has now surfaced :D

I'll try and get it in the post tomorrow morning.....

Here we go:

Ian B - I hope you're OK with this and aren't about to enforce copyright on the manual! :D (although I'm rather unclear who the rights owner for that bit actually is!)

Do you also have the ROM that goes with the 1.21 utilities? Only the 1.30 ROM is currently dumped.

Thanks for checking, at least it tells us there are other ROM versions out there to look for.
