Martech - Vixen
Why do we think there might have been a Beeb version of Vixen? Was there once some mention of it somewhere? I think it's less likely to exist than the infamous Beeb version of Bombjack (which almost certainly did exist in some early form once).

Incidentally, Vixen would probably translate perfectly well to the Beeb for anyone who wanted to have a go. It's not really that good though!

I've found an advert for Space Fighter by Micro Power but it's for the Atom:
Space Fighter Atom.jpg
Is it possible that the BBC version was written by Steve Hanson who originally wrote games for Micro Power but then set up Superior Software and released it through his own company instead?

I'm sure Lee can explain further, but I see that he has labelled it as a "DOUBTFUL RELEASE" on the MIA megalist:

No I can't explain further
Although I seem to have unofficially taken over the task of searching for everything that existed - ever... the original missing "MIA" list is not mine.
It is in fact probably a combination of lists put together by PitfallJones here: viewtopic.php?p=29024#p29024
and a list created by (I think) Crispin Boylan of beebgames.com
Both of these lists are (should be) instances where something was advertised for sale (not "coming soon") that we did not have archived.
Over the last couple of years 8 years  I have chipped away at the list and tidied things up to the point we see it today. viewtopic.php?p=192796#p192796
Even now, I find new adverts and new games to add to the "MIA" list as I read through magazines searching for something completely unrelated.
Quite a lot of these games (as you can see from the adverts) are games advertised by bedroom coders in the classified ads of magazines.
These will have sold in very low numbers indeed and we will be very lucky to recover any of them.
The ones that have the greatest chance of confirming or denying are the ones above that we have actual adverts for.
In other words, this list viewtopic.php?p=312206#p312206 where nobody can find *any* adverts so far, are ALL dubious releases!

I believe this is the only known advert for SWORD OF THE SAMURAI from ADVENTURESOFT / US GOLD
from Computer & Video Games issue 62 - December 1986.
Note that while the other titles show photos of the actual cassette cases, Sword of the Samurai does not.
I do not believe this was ever released.

This interview from Planet Sinclair https://rk.nvg.ntnu.no/sinclair/industr ... rviews.htm
notes that NODES OF YESOD from ODIN was cancelled for the BBC Micro and MSX.
This is another game I believe should be removed from the list.

Wikipedia states (in regard to Jeff Minter)

"Minter went on to develop a number of games for the Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit family, and Atari ST which were marketed by word of mouth and magazine advertisements. These included Gridrunner, Abductor, Matrix: Gridrunner 2, Hellgate, Hover Bovver, Attack of the Mutant Camels, Revenge of the Mutant Camels, Return of the Mutant Camels, Laser Zone, Mama Llama, Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time, Sheep in Space, Voidrunner, and Iridis Alpha."

I believe the SALAMANDER releases of ABDUCTOR, GRIDRUNNER, and LASER ZONE should be removed from the list/

It is probably from an early advert for the Acorn Atom?

A review of GALAXIANS by SOFTWARE FOR ALL in A&B Computing 1-6 (March/April 1984) proves that GALAXIANS is NOT GALACTIC INTRUDERS and is in fact a different game that is MIA.
GALACTIC INTRUDERS has no difficulty settings 1-6 which is the biggest giveaway.

I think I have made a breakthrough with VIKING SOFTWARE.
On the MIA list we have BREAK UP, SKWOSH, ROBOT, and SPACEFIGHT
Here are a couple of reviews from A&B Computing

A&B 1-2 JULY AUG 83lc-p093SKWOSH1.jpg

A&B 1-3 SEPT OCT 83lc-p047 ROBOT1.jpg
A&B 1-3 SEPT OCT 83lc-p047 ROBOT2.jpg
Staring us in the face on bbcmicro.co.uk, we have GAMES PACK 1 from CHARLES MURTON / MURTONSOFT http://www.bbcmicro.co.uk/index.php?sea ... 29&on_C=on
This games pack features BREAK UP, ROBOT, and SPACEFIGHT
So, I conclude that Charles Murton went on to release these via VIKING SOFTWARE or changed his company name to VIKING SOFTWARE.
Could I have some thoughts on how I note this on bbcmicro.co.uk please.

Just to explain the background, this tape was originally mine. The cassette however was entirely blank when I purchased it (goodness knows where I got it from, it would have been around 20 years ago, though I know it was part of a job lot). I have no idea whether there was a duplication issue causing the tape to be blanked, or whether the previous owner blanked it.

It might be worth asking DaveE to check whether the write protect tabs were broken - I've a vague recollection that they were (which would suggest the issue was down to an error with the duplication process)...
