This incredibly useful website for the Acorn System series appears to be down. Does anyone know the author?
I keep meaning to download the whole site and now wish I'd done it!

Hi All
Just spotted this post and can confirm that its not working, don't know why ? Its hosted by TSOHost ?
I'll leave it till tomorrow and see if it comes back before trying to contact them.
In the mean time you should be able to access a copy on my Raspberry Pi here http://81.174.146.201:8080/acorn/index.html.
I've just about finished a complete refresh of the website which I plan to upload next month.

Re: theoddys.com down
Thanks Chris, anightin,
Glad to hear its still being updated - great site and thanks! Am I ok to take a big wget from your PI? I'd like a copy here anyway as I'm often on your site and one big get might stop me from repeatedly opening the PDFs direct - if not no worries.
Thanks again

Re: theoddys.com down
Looks like its back up so just a hiccup from the hosting co ?
I'm happy for copies of the info to be taken off the site, don't want it to get lost though I've no intention of closing it any time soon.
I would be interested to know how well the RPi works as I'm thinking of ditching the host co next year as its costs more per year then an RPi !

Your site is mostly HTML and images, so the Raspberry Pi performs great. If I didn't know that it was on a Pi then I wouldn't have noticed it.

Re: theoddys.com down
Thanks all, I've downloaded the site now!
I've been playing with my System 5ish machine yesterday and got it talking to NoIce debugger. Today I'm going to make a start on a video card. I'm going to go a bit left-field though and use an EF9345P for no better reason than I've got one and want to see what it's like!
Without your site I'd be lost!

Re: theoddys.com down
There is an Atom VDU board based on the EF9345: https://site.acornatom.nl/hardware/vide ... lomskaart/ (switch to English in the right upper corner).
There is also a lot of software in the archives for this board (e.g. https://acornatom.nl/atomarch/an92-05/) . Since System5 and the Atom have a lot in common this should be a nice starting point. As a matter of fact, I have a few spare boards left.

I'd not spotted that so thankyou - an good starting point!
Where does the card appear in the memory map?
Would you be interested in selling one of your boards?

The main site is still falling over when I try to access the System 5 pdfs so I'm not sure it's 100% fixed

The EF9543 at #BE20 - #BE2F, the video RAM is not mapped into the memory map so that is not directly accessible by the CPU.
Yes, I'll PM you a friendly offer....dominicbeesley wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:38 pmWould you be interested in selling one of your boards?

There are a few interesting boards on your site that I feel need emulating, such as the video, DOS, and Z80 boards. Are the ROMs available for the DOS and Z80?roland wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:00 pmThere is an Atom VDU board based on the EF9345: https://site.acornatom.nl/hardware/vide ... lomskaart/ (switch to English in the right upper corner).

Re: theoddys.com down
Somewhere in my archives there's a ROM image (and the sources of) GDOS. E.g. https://site.acornatom.nl/atomarch/Pc97 ... Gdos15.src This file has a 16 byte header at the start. For the rest it's just an Atom assembler file.
I don't have any ROMS or software for the Z80 board. I'll give it a try to get it since I know somebody who still has such a board operational.

Thanks, that's even more of a reason to get it emulated to ensure the ROM is not lost.

Re: theoddys.com down
I contacted Theo, who has an Atom Z80 board with CP/M still up and running. He will send me an EPROM for the board and some discs with software.

Re: theoddys.com down
I have received an EPROM with the label CP/M kaart on it, so this must be the BIOS for the Z80 board.
I also received a bunch of 3.5" discs with Atom CP/M software. They should be formatted in AtomDOS format. I have to work out a way to convert them to images.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do with it over the next few days. The floppy images will be crucial to be able to boot the system.roland wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:01 pmI have received an EPROM with the label CP/M kaart on it, so this must be the BIOS for the Z80 board.
