A5000 IDEFS Formatted CF Card

Hi Folks,

I’ve just installed an IDE to Compact Flash interface and formatted as IDEFS via a wizzo rom.

I have been loading it up slowly via the floppy drive and gotek.

Is there a way to connect my cf card to my pc or an emulator to upload my apps more easily.

I have ADFS Explorer which I believe can load the cf card via a usb reader....but only for ADFS.

ADFS explorer won't read 32bit ADFS iirc. The way to do it is do a raw dump of the card (you'd use dd in linux to do this, but I think there's a way to do it in windows?) and mount it as a hard drive image in one of the emulators. You'll only be able to see the first partition I think, with ADFS, but that should be plenty to get you going.

You might be able to load Wizzo as a 5th-column or Podule ROM in RPCEmu or ArcEm - which may get you access to the other partitions.

Otherwise you can find the starts and ends of the partitions and try to carve the image file up into separate Filecore images.

Not quite what you asked, but I can access the CF card from my A3010 in a USB card reader plugged into a Raspberry Pi running RiscOS 5 if you have access to one.

Bit late but you should be able to use win32diskimager to image the CF card on your PC, give it a hdf extension and add to Arculator v2 using the IDEFS podule extension. Works for my A3000 podule (SD card) at least and you can then use the HostFS feature to copy arc/zipped files to the environment before uncompressing within the emulator using ArcFS

You should then be able to write back the image to the CF card though I confess I've not gotten this far yet

On another note if anyone can point me towards some decent software repositories other than the standard TOSEC games I'd be grateful, especially for educational software and applications

Thanks for the suggestions, I dusted off my pi 3b and loaded RISC Developments latest version Of Riscos.

Plugged in my usb cf adapter and could see it in riscos as another usb drive.....

Problem solved.
