hi im phil from york
just been given an a3000 , as usual cant stand having anything that doesnt appear to work .
so i appologise now for stupid questions.
i have no acorn experience at all was all spekkies and st's

1 stupid question as i have brought it in to work to clean up, inspect
after checking the battery ,using the mono video connector should i get picture on an lcd tv.
it looks like its ouputting something to my tv cant seem to lock onto it fully.
my scart lead arrives tomorrow , but im on nights .

Welcome, Phil. :D

The mono output from the A3000 should work via the video (yellow) RCA input on a modern TV. It should work OK, not like an analogue TV signal.

First thing to do is remove the battery and clean any mess and check if any circuit tracks have corroded away.

Next you could try to do a Power-On-Delete boot up, which will reset all the saved CMOS settings and use default values (definitely needed if the battery is missing). If the keyboard connectors are corroded though you'll not be able to do that until they are fixed. :?

After that it could be a long haul. There are lots of threads on here about resurrecting A3000s. Good luck!

cheers for advice
will try lead tomorrow after finishing nights.
managed to open it up
and with my limited knowhow it appears to have an arm 3 board,4 meg ran and and ide card with drive in.
battery has been replaced with a single aa battery holder but no diode ( so i guess it need a rechargable battery)
