Great game and awesome version Tricky!
My only issue is playing in beeb-em I get a weird key bug if I use Shift I can't move up or down until I move left or right first so I try avoid using shift as it seems to auto fire bombs every time I move anyway but that is not very accurate... might try b-em and see how that handles key presses.
My starter score as I have been playing scramble in real life with Covid19!

Seeing as the new disk image doesn't work for me, I'll have to persevere with the old one and hope it doesn't crash. Unfortunately it did crash on my 4th time around again when I still had 2 lives left. It's a slightly higher score but it's really frustrating as I could get much more

Made it twice around, astounding beeb game and so smooth!
I do get the sound bug at the end of the game on both b-em and beebEm.
Have been playing on b-em as it handles my keyprefs better and doesn't auto drop the bombs.

What do you mean that it doesn't work?
For people with shift key issues, what OS and beebem version are you on as I have never heard of this issue before?
I do try to make my games compatible with beebem, but it is a bit of a pain due to its 6845 emulation, although for me it makes up for it by being so easy to hack.

I do prefer beebEm for some reason and I often wonder if it's me causing the shift issue as no-one else seems to have it. Using 4.14 and prolly need to download the latest release *. members have been working on recently.

There are graphics glitches everywhere. The ship is a double image of itself and all the landscape, rockets, etc. are garbled. I did post a photo earlier on in the thread. Technically it does work but is unplayable for me. Here's the photo again. On Beeb-Em, your 'upgrade' also does the same thing as what Venger's does Tricky. Just confirming.

Really liking this. Got to the end of the 3rd level, 7th time around. The fuel starts depleting a lot faster at this point, forcing you to take some risks. I'm still making some stupid mistakes.
Here's a bug - the most significant digit of the score gets messed up when you get over 100,000 points.

I could probably add the extra digit in 8 bytes, but it wouldn't space very well unless I remove the 0 on the end or have no gap.
I see what you mean, I may have forgotten to hook that digit up as I never got much past 20 in all the testing I did!
At least you have the flags to show how many loops you completed as a confirmation.
I think there is a one line fix for beebem to make it more compatible, bu5 the colour would probably still be off by a line.

OK, I had hooked up the last digit, but due to jumping into the wrong part of a routine, it was drawing the digit scrolled by 1 pixel, not by 1 digit (16 pixels - two columns), which is why the 0 is 1 pixel higher (I hadn't noticed this before).
Attached is a new .SSD, the only change is to draw the most significant digit correctly, although it will take me a while to test it properly!

I can't get JSBeeb to load any disks and I can't install B-Em for some reason. It looks like I'll have to give up on this round. It's a shame because I've gotten to round 4 with 2 or 3 lives a couple of times now.

I'm going to post my latest build of beebem in the beebem thread, it plays without visible corruption, but is only the exe as I can't build the installer.

I'm not sure which version we're supposed to be using, but seeing as I'm never in a month of Sundays going to get anywhere near Venger's score I'm sticking with the original!

Something weird is going on with this latest version. The most significant digit problem seems to be fixed, but when starting a new game the flags in the bottom right corner denoting the level don't seem to be reset. In the game below, after a while, the levels I was getting were continuously easy ones (only a few spaceships in stage 2, slowly decreasing fuel). So I'm not sure the score below should count:

JoolsH, are you sure that this wasn't happening before as I only changed one line inside the score display code.
For now, can I suggest that everyone quits with Escape and relaunches if they are getting past the first loop?

Right, I was never resetting the looped counter, but resetting the difficulty, so after 12 loops without resetting, the game would stay on the simplest settings!
Here is a fix for that, hopefully everyone can beat their previous score and there won't be any question as to whether their score should stand.

In my defence, I don't have a very large test department (just me) and people don't really get into a game without something like the High-Score Challenge to encourage them.
PS Any score from a clean boot or without looping before it will be valid.

Actually, if you haven't looped 12 times in one session, you score is valid.
