Okay my wife was in a good mood, and after rolling her eyes at me has agreed.
So quick move me to a confirmed for Saturday/Sunday before she changes her mind.

Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
I'll be there for all three days, but won't need much space, probably spend most of the time marvelling at what everyone else has been up to! (assuming I don't end up fixing SparcStations and VR systems in the main museum again
)
Bryan.

The food there is very tasty, but the pub is small. Not sure if they would fit 20+ of us on a Saturday night. The pub we went to last year was good, and had a wider variety of food to choose from.

helpful, Elminster and sixxdog_uk added...
I plan to book the same pub as last year for food as it seemed to suit everyone food-wise, accommodated us all and is within walking distance of the venue.
..Just 4 places left!!

How much space each? Say compared to the table at Hampshire? Half the size? I did go as a spectator last year, I vaguely remember about 1 or 1.5 people’s widths.
I assume bring extension leads, anything else we need to bring? ourselves and something to do of course.

Right, that's me sorted.
Staying at the Travel Lodge. Only half a mile away, well within staggering distance.
Will be there Friday pm until Sunday pm. See everyone in September.

Is JudgeBeb's reward for Hampshire 2 places? He is at 14 and 16?
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
At the moment, I can only make Saturday and although I will put a beeb in the boot, I might just sit in the canteen area when not chatting, so you don't need to reserve me a space.

Hi,
Good spot on my poor editing of post Elminster
Corrected it now and added daveejhitchins to the list.
Tricky has suggested he has his "Tricky gaming" set up of Beebs in the main hall, which I am sure the museum will be up for. I still hope you'll be coming in to the classroom frequently Tricky!
..On the subject of space in the classroom: Along with other bits associated with organising the event.. I'm aiming to accommodate everyone as best I can. The room is a bit smaller than at other ABUG events. As in previous years, most people (including me) will get a half table of space. 3 or 4 people will get a full table. This is because some regular attendees have substantial amounts of electronics equipment such as oscilloscopes and the like - AND - importantly - are able to help others with their hardware projects and repairs.
I am VERY conscious that this could seem a bit unfair. However, I think it's the best solution given the size of the room and wanting as many people to come along as is (comfortably) possible. The tables are pretty big..I seem to recall I could fit two Beebs + screens side by side + laptop.. whilst others were able to fit a soldering iron + Acorn machine and other bits into the same space. Overall, everyone seemed to get along, have fun and get lots of stuff done in the previous two years and I'm sure this year will be the same - with a bit more space for comfort.
Cheers,
jbnbeeb

Thanks. I thought that was the answer.
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
I've just booked a table for the Saturday night meal at nearby pub we went to last year (walking distance).
http://www.the-geldart.co.uk
Also..just to let you know I booked my room at the nearby Travelodge (address in first post) - currently £100 for 2 nights sans breakfast. Which is fine by me as the breakfast there isn't good..but clean functional rooms and 10 mins walk to the museum.
Cheers,
jbnbeeb.

Now he tells us. I just booked breakfast!

Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
I'll be there all weekend
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
I had a such a good time at ABUG South, can I put my name down to come along for the whole weekend?
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
Eeek! Sorry, I've been away from the forums for a bit. Many thanks to Boydie for prodding me.
Yes, I'll definitely take a place, please!

All spaces gone in 7 days! Perhaps Computing museum needs to new premises with a bigger side room.
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
Hi,
I've updated the list. At this point, attendee list is full!
I'll change the "tentative" list to a "reserve" list. Any further requests to attend will go on this list..Then if anyone on the attendee list has to cancel, the vacant place will be offered to people on the reserve list in the order that the requests arrived.
I'm sure there's a better way of putting this but hopefully that makes sense!

Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
Probably worth highlighting in the first post that although the attendee list (actually a table list) is full, people can still turn up on the day as visitors to join in the fun

I guess you Could have ‘table attendees’, ‘table reserve’ and ‘vistors’, registering as vistors being optional but useful to know.
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
No promises, but I'll try to attend as a visitor since I won't be bringing anything. Not sure which day(s) yet either.
There are a handful of ROMs I'd like to see dumped during this event, assuming someone will have suitable equipment there. Can I put forward a wishlist?

Good idea. I think I made a similar note last year. I've amended the top post accordingly.
For now, I'll hold off on maintaining a list of people dropping by for an hour or two as part of museum visit..but it'd be appreciated if people wanting to visit post on this thread.

I was referring to museum items that I'd like to see archived.

I was doing some tweeks to PDP11 BASIC, so swapped from my PiTube to my MatchBox to use the PDP11 CoPro, and it seems to have bitrotted or something. The only CoPros that start up are the four 6502 ones. Will there be somebody at Cambridge who can reprogram it?
Ta.
This is the main reason I've got so much hardware dangling out of my system, I have so much stuff that I need to physically swap around.
Edit: Hmmm. I really should book a hotel room!

Might be worth checking the soldering on the RAM chip on the back. When I reprogrammed trixster's, I couldn't get all the co-pros to boot up and then I noticed that some of the pins on the RAM chip weren't soldered. Soldering the offending pins fixed the issue.
Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD
Doh, it's a shame it's the same weekend as the GNU Cauldron in Manchester. I guess I need to flip a coin or something.
