ADFS Explorer

Post by g7jjf » Tue May 22, 2018 1:20 pm

After a request from a user, I have now added inbuilt support for CF Cards within ADFS Explorer.

CF cards are used by the Model B or Master 128 Internal Compact Flash Hard Drive Kit (available from http://www.retroclinic.com/acorn/kitide ... de1mhz.htm by Mark Haysman of RetroClinic).

This means that with a suitable card and card reader, you can access the files on the card directly within ADFS Explorer rather than use the command line cfbackup/cfrestore utilities first.

There are also options to format a blank card and backup/restore a CF card to a .DAT files (which can subsequently be used by BeebEm).

That’s a most welcome new feature! :D

I just have to ask tho’ - is there any chance of you adding this feature to the Mac version of ADFS Explorer too?

I no longer have a Mac so any development is done under vmware emulation. I will take a look and see what is possible. I have to do low level api calls on windows to access the cf card and I dont know if there are equivalent calls in Xojo basic which I used to write the Mac version.

Leave it with me and I will see what I can do.

ADFS Explorer. Really good, but sometimes drives me mad. When I open a hard disk image everything in the directory tree is fully expanded and I have to be very careful collapsing the directories otherwise it copies the directory to a different location!! :x Unfortunately there's no undo. I always make a copy of the hard disk image before I start in case it gets messed up.

I not sure it makes floppy disk images correctly for the Electron. I use Elkulator to create blank images as these seem to work well.

Finally, I not sure Save is always needed. When I have the troubles I described first it seems to save the changes.

I don't know if anyone else has had these troubles?
