Good adventures for kids
Good adventures for kids
Inspired by the Grannys Garden thread I sat down with my 9 and 4 year old daughters and played Grannys Garden. They both really enjoyed it so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to try them out with one or two simple adventure games.
I've only ever played The Stolen Lamp and maybe Sphynx Adventure myself, and that was thirty years ago so any advice would be great.

Flowers of crystal was another done by same label, but was never at my primary school, ( as was older by then) but at others. Seems ok, but not a patch on granny!

It doesn't have the music at the beginning that makes your ears bleed... (I think I prefer flowers of crystal). Dragonworld is probably also something from 4mation they'd like.

Maybe for when they're a bit older:sydney wrote: I sat down with my 9 and 4 year old daughters and played Grannys Garden ... I'm thinking it might be a good idea to try them out with one or two simple adventure games ... any advice would be great.

Sherston have a lot of adventures for young children. Microbugs, Animal Rescue, Dream Time, Nature Park Adventure, etc., etc.
A lot are on this thread: http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewto ... f=2&t=7190

I have semi-fond memories of The Magic Telephone Part 1 (except for the scary crocodile!) It's a fairly traditional MODE 7(?) graphical adventure with comparatively reasonable puzzles.
The defining BBC edu-adventure for me will always be (Dread Dragon) Droom though (although some sections are arguably overly difficult).

Are you by any chance referring to the semi-mythical game known as "The Magic Telephone Box"? Do you know who published it? Or anything else about it? Better still, have you actually got a copy? It seems to be missing in action:poink wrote:I have semi-fond memories of The Magic Telephone Part 1 (except for the scary crocodile!) Thanks for the tips guys. I think we'll have an adventure night tonight!
Re: Good adventures for kids
Can I also suggest the adventure game on the Master 128 welcome disc?
It is a bog standard text adventure, but includes all the usual content and has only about a dozen rooms. My kids really liked it!
