My new project - A Documentary!

Post by Garrettimus »

Dear friends,

I've been away for a while because I've been working on a new project.

My new project is a documentary on the arrival of the video games in my country. In essence, it's my books turned into film. :D It will be called "1983: The Year of Videogames in Brazil" after my first book.

You can watch the video and read (in Portuguese) about it on a Brazilian version of Kickstarter called Kickante:

http://www.kickante.com.br/videogames

I need 20000 Reais (4600 pounds) to make it happen. It's a lot of money. :(

I don't know what she says but the woman in the teaser video looks very nice 8)

Wouldn't you reach a larger audience if the pages for crowd funding are in English, at least the most important parts?

Thank you very much, my friends. We will use a 4K camera to shoot it. Here's an example of one of our interviews in terms of picture quality. This man was responsible for manufacturing and marketing a Brazilian clone of the ColecoVision, the SpliceVision, back in 1983.

Best of luck, Marcus! Sounds like a fantastic project and I'm sure the end result will be top-notch - the quality of that snapshot is supreme!

The campaign seems to have made a solid start: 17.5% funded after just 1 day?

P.S. Have you thought about adding English subs? Perhaps as a 'stretch goal' if the core target is met? (though as was recently explained to me, production of subtitles isn't cheap!).

The problem with subtitles is not the subtitles themselves, LOL. It's rather the professional translation from Portuguese to English, which is very very very expensive. :?

You might be able to get a reasonable translation from some one at a local Uni and then there are plenty of people here who could help tweak the English.

You might be interrested in: WH Smith Computer Games Promo Video (October 1988)

Sometimes there are moments that I better do not post what I want to post. This is such a moment (... to keep this forum family friendly)

Here's a short clip to showcase the picture quality of the documentary. If your PC can handle it, you can select the ´4K´ quality. It's superb! :D

Very nice quality Garrettimus. However the great quality still doesn't help me understand what he is saying, but it's very, very clear....no, or very little background noise from what I hear.

Congratulations..... =D> =D> =D>

Happy belated Xmas! Happy 2017!

I've been away from this forum for a while due to many things, but mostly because of the continuing work in my documentary. In fact, we've prepared 2 teaser videos (in Portuguese). I invite you to watch them...

Teaser #1 shows people (from the Industry) who brought the videogames into my country (there's even a MAJOR international guest!):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqSp-7hzvpk

Teaser #2 shows the very first players, people who witnessed the arrival and the subsequent video games fever first hand!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bkVq8gqbKM

We're working around the clock to have it finished by later march, early april.

:D :)
