Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
Does anybody have any spare Acorn Electron mains adaptors for a reasonable price (including shipping to NL)?
I have too many Electrons and only one mains adaptor.
Could be UK or EU adaptor.

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
I don't think it needs to be specifically an electron psu does it? I seem to remember the electron being very tolerent of the exact voltage.
As long as the jack is the right size with the correct polarity (make a lead up) you can use many a laptop psu.
Cheers,
Mike.

Yes you are right of course but it's more a sense of making my Electrons complete

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
I just bought a generic 18v AC adapter. This one in fact:

I am sure you can buy similar locally.

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
Do you want a genuine Acorn Electron mains adaptor, or just something suitable?
Only, as others have indicated, an Electron can be powered by a wide variety of “mains adaptors”. The Acorn Electron mains adaptor is just a normal 50Hz mains transformer in a plastic case with built in pins for a wall socket.
The clever part is the switch mode power supply unit (SMPSU) inside the case of the Electron. This will work with any AC or DC supply (either polarity of DC) from around 12V to 21V. The socket on the Electron is a ”standard” 2.1mm (inside diameter) mini power barrel socket.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Very useful.
If someone happens to have (spare) original Electron power adaptors for a good price then please contact me.

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
Hi Kelvin,
Did you want to take this off my hands at the ABUG in a few weeks? Not much use to me in the UK.
It came with my Elk when I got it. I'm assuming this is what the Elk's sold to the continent were originally supplied with?
Gav.
Edit: No pressure. I understand if you're really after the original 'beige block'. I won't be offended. The offer is there if you fancy.

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
Thanks Gav! I have never seen that kind of mains adaptor. I am looking for the beige UK block or for one similar to my original German Electron adaptor (see picture). So Dave you're in luck! Thanks for the offer though Gav!gidandridge wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:11 pmPlanning a move to the continent Dave?

Okay Kelvin, no trouble. In that case, Dave, you just bagged yourself a new power supply for the German in your family. I'll bring it to ABUG and you can take a closer look before you take it away.

Re: Wanted: Acorn Electron mains adaptor (UK/EU)
So, let me get this right, mains adaptors for the U.K. market were made in Hong Kong. But mains adaptors for the German market were made in the U.K.!
