Wanted Model B issue 7 motherboard

Post by Ioerror » Fri Jun 01, 2018 8:51 pm

Hi

I had a dodgy ram chip on my bbc and thought I’d have a go at fixing it. Now I’ve totaled that ram bank on the motherboard. The board itself will give a low beep and nothing else. Does anyone have an issue 7 board they’d like to sell?

I believe all of the chips and processor on the current board I have are fine so a bare board would be perfect.

Thanks

Confused. Surely if you have dodgy RAM and you moved all the componets from one motherboard to another you would still have dodgy RAM? Why not just replace the dodgy RAM.

Or do you mean you damaged the mothboard itself?

I tried replacing the dodgy ram and in the process damaged the board. Slipped with the snips and ploughed through some tracks. Looking to buy a working issue 7 motherboard if anyone had one for sale.

Just follow the broken tracks (bet only 3), & use small jumper wire to re make the same path.
I've done it on a few electrons & they now work fine! 8)

I tried the obvious ones, looked for a bad connection too. No dice. I don’t really have the skill or time to diagnose any further. I was hoping to pick up a replacement motherboard and just drop it in :)

Try Mark at Retroclinic. I’m sure I’ve seen him sell them on eBay before now.

It'll be fixable for less than the cost of a new one, I'm fairly sure...

Mark doesn’t have any issue seven boards for sale.

Or Is anyone available to take the board on a no fix no fee basis? I am worried it’s terminal!

Thanks

A few lacerated tracks on a 2 layer board is very unlikely to be terminal. Can you post a picture of the offending area? Mark does repairs too.
