WTB : A5000 keyboard

Post by a1exh »

Preferably UK but at this point I would consider anything.

I don't know if my A5000 even works yet, it only came today and has some battery leakage but it came without a keyboard :(

If an A4000 keyboard would work I'd consider that too.

Thanks

You'll also need a quadrature mouse which plugs into the keyboard, or something like a smallymouse to do the conversion between USB and quadrature. Any archimedes keyboard will work with the A5000 - but whilst you're seeing if you can get it up and running, this might be a better idea? viewtopic.php?t=9334

I think all the pre-RiscPC keyboards were interchangeable, functionally if not cosmetically.

I'm fairly sure I have a few at my office in various states of disrepair. If you are happy to take a filthy one that needs cleaning and possibly more, and you aren't too bothered about what it looks like, you can have that for the cost of postage, probably £10-ish. If you need something that's known to work, I think there is at least one guy selling refurbished keyboards on ebay for £50-£70ish.

At this point I'd be happy with anything. Obviously I'd prefer an A5000 KB but at this point I can't be picky.

If you think you have something send me a PM and arrange something.

My A5000 did come with a Logitec 3 button mouse (although I've not been able to open it for cleaning, perhaps some schools glued them shut to stop mouse balls being stolen?) but no keyboard.

Yes I've seen the adapter I did have plans to make one if I couldn't find a reasonably priced keyboard. Is there anyone selling pre-built units?

BTW, as a new member, you can receive PMs, but you will be unable to reply by PM or send new PMs.

You can also use an A4000 keyboard, or A4xx/A3xx keyboard with extension lead.

Thanks. I’ve seen them. But both are more than I paid for my A5000. I don’t even know if my A5000 will ever work again due to battery damage.

Your A5K is totally fixable. I'd place money on it. Have faith :)
