BBC Master with Datacentre and Mean Well PSU for sale

Post by Lardo Boffin » Thu Jan 10, 2019 9:09 pm

Hello all!

For sale is a spare BBC Master - this came with a BBC buggy I got recently and I don’t really have the space to keep it.
It has had a Mean Well PSU fitted as well as an internal Datacentre (USB only - no CF card reader).

When it arrived there was an econet board lose inside it. I tried this in my Master (which is set up as an econet server) but it doesn’t seem to work. I will include it in case it is of any value.

Note that I did not fit any of this so have no idea how well the PSU was fitted. I have had it running for a day without issue (or it blowing up) so presumably it is ok.

The case is in pretty good condition and not as yellow as it looks in some of the photos taken in artificial light.

On the downside:-
The back of the case does not close very well. I assume the screws have been over tightened at some point maybe?
The speaker is noisy! The easiest cure for this is to disconnect it and use the Audio Out. I tried this fine with a SCART I got from Retroclinic. There are cures listed for noisy speakers which involve replacing or adding parts (or waiting for age related hearing loss).
On a couple of occasions it did not import an SSD images via the DataCentre - it stopped part way through. Pressing break and trying again worked. To be fair mine does this from time to time. It did it twice in about 30 or so imports.

It comes with a normal beeb SCART.

I have not used this extensively but let it run for a day. I have tried the floppy disc port with a gotek and Tube port with a pi co proc.

I think £100 plus p&p is reasonable for this? Given the size and weight it will have to be a courier.

PM me if interested! Or if you have any further questions or want me to test anything specific. :D
