Two BBC Micros free around Mar 2018

Post by Pablos544 » Thu Sep 07, 2017 9:32 pm

Sup All.

Looks like I'll be going to S.America CHILE as kind of forseen :?

Thing is painful as this is I gonna have to let go of my two BBC Micros

Not really because I want to because there's little space so

- one BBC Micro Model B + 32K Sideways RAM No DFS with tape deck very clean little used
- one BBC Micro Model B + 128KROM/RAM Board IFEL by Steve Picton + Turbo MMC Card Interface
slightly yellowed look and some cosmetic damage surface behind keyboard and slightly the cartridge slot left of keyb
has DFS ability
has MMC Card DFS anyway ready to go playing games, save Elite saves etc..

got ONE RetroComputerShack RGB to SCART lead
got also a decent BUSH TV which works with this lead

want to let go of both of them around 2018 Mar time as that is when I'll be saying hello S.America good bye England.

Don't want money just a good home =D>

Bearing in mind the time it will be available and plus I don't want to post it, live in London sw16 anybody interested?

Hi Pablo, that's very kind - I don't need any more BBC Micros personally - but have you considered donating them to the ABug usergroup? Which would mean that the machines could be exhibited by members at various meetups such as the User Group meetings and the Wakefield/ROUGOL shows. I'm sure there are some London-based members that may be willing to collect and take 'custody' of the machines on the User Group's behalf?

I don't really have much space left, but could add them to the tricky gaming collection, where they will be looked after and occasionally taken out for the public to play on, such as the upcoming ROUGOL show http://www.jellybaby.net/rougol/shows/index.html or as Arcadian says, events like the ABUG meet-ups at the centre for computing history.

Sounds a bit sad. :(

Can't you put them in storage or leave in a relative's loft until you return? Or have you got a one-way ticket?

Good luck.

Or . . . just let us look after them for you e.g. exactly what Arcadian suggested but if/when you return you get them back :D

If it is permanent (?) maybe we just look after them until you're settled and then we ship them over to you . . .

Sorry haven't replied. Partly my fault because I have been thinking about it not sure sorry

To Be Honest I don't really want to do it. It's just living in London paying sky high rents and having a minimum wage job is forcing me to reconsider my life circumstances

So in order to try and make everybody especially Dave H I will donate ONE of my BBC Micros. To be honest even that's hard to do

But at least it's the most 'stranger' to me BBC Micro, being relatively clean and hasn't even got a DFS.

That says it runs Turbo MMC pretty good, and it's even got a little bit of SWR 32K.

I've ran Exile on it and it runs very well. The keyboard is in immaculate condition. Right now it's at home under my bed in storage. You can either take it with Acorn Cassette or I can try and sell that as I'm a bit short of cash.

But either way I think this represents a fair deal because that way I get to keep at least one BBC Micro, and can if I feel lonely etc. quickly run up Elite and a few Tequillas. :P

So looking at around early Mar 2018 still.

I'm quite happy to do as Lee says, donate it to ABUG and they keep it in storage and use it for their needs, or Tricky if he wishes, we'd have to arrange a way to hook up sometimes nearer the date, or Dave H. Guys you better sort it out between you who wants it. I'm quite happy to donate it free because then it's guaranteed getting a good home, and I still keep a Beeb anyway.

Been travelling around Chile!! https://youtu.be/FIeBfrl1mFI
It's in Spanish but basically I'm saying I'm very emotional I'm back home lol
Cheers, Pab.

So, let us hang-on to them for you and ship them out once you get settled-in? If I can get a 14" portable TV to Marcus, in Sao Paulo, intact . . . two Beebs should be a doddle

Now, now . . . Steady

I think, if we ask Tricky (here) very nicely . . . and then I can probably collect them or have them shuttled up via people attending ABUG meetings at various places up and down the country. Nothing we can't do as a team 8)

Would you be OK with this Tricky?

I work in and live near Kings Langley and will be at the ROUGOL discos RISCOS show Saturday 28th October 2017 at its usual venue of the St Giles Hotel in Feltham if you might be near either of these. Failing that, I could probably detour after the show. Once mbi I have them, they can come to the Lester aBUG meet for onward travel.

Edit: sorry for the poor predictive text.

Really sorry to disappoint  the plans kind of fell through to go to Chile so I ended up actually selling one and the other is hanging on with me for the forseeable future. Sorry it's my mum's fault! She keeps selling the idea like it's just as easy as popping over, shove a few things in boxes but the reality is she doesn't know what's gonna happen and I keep getting cold feet for this reason. If I go to Chile I'll have to make my own plans. Whenever that's gonna be. Cheers, Pablo

Me too I'm quite glad I've kept my Beeb. To be honest the second beeb was only really for testing Sideways RAM issues I was having with Kieran Mockford's The Hobbit Graphical. I loved ZX Spectrum Hobbit as a kid and really wanted to see this in all it's glory working on the Beeb. Turns out it was something due to the temperamental Sideways RAM code at the beginning of The Hobbit Enhanced's loading process which ran after running the HOBBITP ROM image directly) So anyway after that the second Beeb just got sold to a very nice man who is learning how to code BBC Basic :D Hip hip ... =D> [-o< [-o<
