Actually yeah, upon arrival the two pins were poking out of the envelope and had gotten rather bent; they've now been straightened but it would be worth adding a little bubble wrap (or perhaps even using slimline 'large letter' mailing boxes) for any future orders.

Still very pleased with the item! :)

Thanks mine arrived yesterday.
One issue that you might want to think about when you package them is that the pins have protruded through the outer of the jiffy bag it was posted in and bent. I think the unit is ok but it could have easily snapped off the connector and damaged the board.
Anyway cheers will give these a go as soon as I get the chance (probably over Christmas).

You're not alone. I'm waiting here patiently too. I'm still hopeful of an early Xmas pressie! In fact, it might be waiting at home for me now...

Mine arrived early this morning. It is tiny, i was expecting about the same size as the matchbox co-pro. Oh well excuse for a new case. Thanks Simon for the designing etc, and thanks Jason for taking the time to build these.

Hmmm. @flynnjs. I tried to message you, but it's stuck in my outbox for some reason.

Can you confirm if I actually placed an order back in October. I stated I did on earlier on in this thread, but I'm not sure if I ever actually paid. Gutted if I didn't actually place the order. I've been waiting patiently all this time, thinking I had bought one!!!

Ken - you should have a confirmation email from when you placed the order, and if you log in on the xeropage website it should show the status of any orders you made.

A private message will stay in YOUR outbox until it is read by the recipient.

Yeah. I couldn't find any email, which is what makes me think I perhaps didn't ever actually place the order. There is an option to checkout using paypay without creating an account, which is what I would have probably done. So I'm not sure I would be able to check order status. Paypal doesn't seem to show any order to xeropage around the time I thought I'd placed the order, so it's not looking too enouraging.

If I've not placed an order, then I'm definitely back in the queue for the next batch!!!

yay it arrived today.
now I want to use an image I still have from my hard drive and only have the scsi.dat file but see that the corresponding LUN descriptor files (DSC) that describe the formatted geometry of the drive, if I don't have one how do I go about sorting that out? is it required for it to work?

If you don't supply a DSC file then BeebSCSI will automagically make one the first time you mount the LUN. It makes a "jolly good guess" (very technical stuff!) based on the standard geometry used by the Adaptec ACB-4000.

If you're interested in the technical side of this, it's documented in the technical guide (and viewable in the source code). If you want to dig really deep you can hook up a debug serial connection to the board and turn on SCSI tracing and it will reveal all.

There is also a command in the BeebSCSI ROM *SCSIDSC which will report back the geometry.

The geometry is only really used by formatting applications such as SuperForm - unless you want to format your hard drive contents, it should be plug and play :)

@flynnjs

I'll take five, please . . . I'm getting requests from potential AP5 users - so I'll pass them on at cost, probably with a formatted SD card and the Utilities ROM. I'll pm you regarding my different connector requirements.

That's the 10 then. I'll get prices in for the component and then update the shop with some stock.

@daveejhitchins kindly provided me with one of his boards when I discovered that I hadn't finalised my order. Without already knowing that, I assume you've counted me in on the 10. Not a problem, because I'd quite happily take a second one. :D

Many thanks to Simon for his design and efforts (see: http://www.domesday86.com/?page_id=400)

My version is a direct copy other than using SMD termination resistors and shrinking the PCB so
that it fits under a model B, like the Lx9CoPro does.
Note sure if I'm alone here, but I struggled to get the board to connect directly into the 1Mhz connector underneath the Beeb. With the location of the SMD terminating resistors, the IDC connector sits slightly further back on the board. As a result, on my beebs, this causes the edge of the BeebSCSI board to clash with the surround of the 1MHz plug, preventing the connector on the BeebSCSI board from being fully pushed into the 1Mhz plug. Also, I had to snip away the edges of the board to avoid the board clashing with the two securing latches at either side of the 1Mhz plug.

Before building a further batch, and assuming I'm not alone in this, is there an opportunity to further optimise the board layout to improve this?

Thanks
Ken.

No because I already have the PCBs and getting more PCBs made just for qty 10 wouldn't be economical.
As with the original red prototypes it's always possible to make an extension from a staight-through
connector.

Hello,

I foolishly didn’t buy one of these when they were available, so I’d be delighted to buy one from this run!

Many thanks,
