Free podules for A3xxx - Midi/Ultimate HCCS

Post by HughF »

Would anyone like to claim these? The HCCS works (I think, it shows up but I couldn't get a HDD to detect), the MIDI podule is untested.

Happy to split them and send them separate ways... Just cover my postage costs.

Would be nice to have ROM dumps from both boards if possible, before you let them go.

Thanks for those, much appreciated :D

Are you sure the Ultimate ROM is dumped correctly, maybe incorrect type with different address lines?

It looked OK in the editor once I had read it out... My programmer supported the device and didn't give me any errors.

Can I claim the Ultimate podule?

What is the issue with the rom dump? Could it be that the podule doesn't map the address lines from the Arc to the rom one-to-one, so the contents when read in a programmer look odd, but the Arc sees the correct data.

I'm querying it because we already have an earlier version 1.10, that's supported in Arculator, but the contents are laid out differently. In the 1.10 dump the podule ROM header is in the first 2K whereas in this new 1.11 dump the header is in the last 2K. Different podules, different decoding I guess.

I have a similar mini podule here, HCCS A3010 Ultimate Issue 2, but with differing firmware.

HughF's above says Ultimate 1.11 (28 Apr 1994)

Mine says Ultimate 1.01 (03 Dec 1994) -
ULT-A3010-VER-D.zip
(69.37 KiB) Downloaded 2 times
. The label on the ROM said: ULT A3010 VER 'D'
Will post in a fresh thread over in the 32bit Hardware.

Are you looking for a new home too? If so, I’d definitely be interested.

I'm probably too late to the party but the HCCS podule would be perfect for the A3020 I had a thread on recently.

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry for the confusion, I was just posting alongside these other podules so the firmware was for each revision was together.

Also, I think the A3010 HCCS podule that I have wouldn’t work in a A3020 due to the onboard ide.

Ah, understood.

Interesting point though about whether all/any A3010 podules work in an A3020 - never considered that.

They should both work, internal IDE will be ADFS, the HCCS interface will be something like IDEFS.
