For Sale: A3020/A4000 & A5000 overclockable RAM

Post by cmorley » Mon Jan 13, 2020 5:39 pm

Now the open source RAM project is tested working I am going to be assembling some. If you want to overclock your machine they seem to be a good prospect.
A3020 RAM thread
A5000 RAM thread

Since the original backer of the project is buying a bulk order I can offer the cards for £30 as there is an economy of scale. This one and only batch will be built to order - I am not going to hold stock and sell them as an ongoing item. I won't sell any on eBay... stardot only.

If you're going to the next ABUG there is a fighting chance I can get your board to you there.

I won't sell kits but I could supply RAM if anyone wants to build some in the future. PCBs from any Chinese fab and all the other parts are readily available from RS.

Can you put me down for an A4000 one. I already have a 4MB upgrade, but might have a go at the overclock.
Thanks.

Hi Chris

I would like:
  • two suitable for A3020 machines,
  • one suitable for A4000 machines, and
  • two suitable for A5000 machines.
So that’s a total of five please [-o<

Thanks

If you have them ready for January’s ABug, that would be great, but not essential, as I’m not in a rush. So don’t worry if it’s too tight timing wise.

Mark

I had enough parts to build the ABUG attendees boards and hand deliver them this weekend. See the A3020 thread for news on fitment and testing in 1024MAK's A3020 (spoiler alert \:D/ )

I will assemble the remaining orders over the next couple of weeks and PM people when they are ready.

Anyone still wanting to get on the list you still have a few days. I can't order the PCBs until the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday is over (next week) so you have a little time left. I won't be doing these as an ongoing product.

I wouldn't mind a set to bring my A4000 up to 4MB.

I think I may be being a bit thick, so just to check. Are there fitting instructions anywhere?
I assume the single pin on one of the boards (for A3020/A4000) needs to connect to the middle pin of LK32?
There were two dupont cables in the pack, do I need the other one?

Probably not... :|
Yes remove LK32 and connect the wire to the pin 2 (middle).
You have a spare wire. :D

Thanks. Is it obvious how the jumpers on the A5000 should be set?

I wrote it on the card's silkscreen. The A4000 boards were too small to fit that info on sensibly.

OK, I should have looked at the pictures (I did look at the schematic). Thanks.

P.S. I'm thinking about overclocking too, so I won't be able to use any of the original memory.

The upgrade has 4MB on, it provides all 4MB the MEMC can access.. You need to set the links to disable the onboard memory whether you intend to overclock or not.

The latest ETA for the RAM chips from the manufacturer is 4th March. This will be the cut off for orders. I might have a few spare PCBs left over but don't count on this.

So names ASAP if you are interested.

If you are not on the list and want RAM then tell me ASAP.

Everyone should have their RAM now (or at least on the way for myelin).

I've moved some posts out of this thread as they weren't anything to do with selling RAM :)

Received the modules last week, now installed and tested, they work great! Installation quite easy in the end but the metal shield definitely has to come off first.

Not tried any overclocking yet, awaiting the resistor
