Hi Odin,
It was just the Classic Arcade Games tape I wanted because I wanted to see if there are any different loaders from the disc versions.

Hi Arcadian,
Thanks for the info on Tutankhamun's Revenge.
Again, just wanted to see if there was a tape version and if it had anything different about it.
Can strike that one off the list!

regards,
Mick.

I wonder if the data recovery that Kees and Hoglet did with some of the Atom stuff could be used here?

^I *think* that was only for 300baud tapes, so 1200baud tapes would have 4x the amount of 'junk' to fix, and more error prone.

Plus the files on the .SSD are the same names, BUT, tape says press Escape to skip Instructions/music, SSD asks Y/N to skip Instructions

PS the other tape Tank Attack-GEM83 was exactly the same as in STH archive, and worked both sides

here's the info on it, if Mick does not already have it:

The code doesn't currently support 1200 Baud, but it's a possibility.

The other difference is the header format, but the details are here:
http://beebwiki.mdfs.net/Acorn_cassette_format

The Beeb CRC is a proper 16 bit CRC, so the possibility of false positives during decode are much less than with the Atom 8 bit Checksum.

If you could upload a WAV file somewhere, I'd give it a go at some point.

This game (A Maze in Space) looks quite good:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nSeR-ci5jk

There is a version of it in the STH collection (Disk 11):
http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/index ... collection
http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/sthco ... NO1_r1.zip

And another version from a dodgy "ROMs" site:
AMazeInSpace.zip
(11.95 KiB) Downloaded 81 times
This works in BeebEm

Apologies if this thread was specifically about rescuing the Tape version, but I would have thought the game would be pretty much the same....

EDIT: I would expect MZINTRO and MZASM to be the same in both versions, as SETPGE sets page to &1900.

EDIT2: Actually, not a dodgy site, as it's owned by a member on here (gazstone):
http://gazstone.com/downloads.aspx?path ... mages/Disk

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the info.
It's up to Mick Brown really.
He wanted the original tape to check if the archived version was complete.
Mick, if you need any further investigating doing on the MZINTRO and MZASM files then let us (Dave!) know.
Cheers.

In fact, I think it would be great to have this tool in existence for any future tapes that we have trouble with, so if you could knock something together that would be excellent :D

Hi Lee,
Yes your're right, I just needed to see all the files for A Maze In Space to make sure everything was included in the disc version and that no parts of any instructions/loaders were missing.

The game has many files which got condensed down into fewer larger ones in order to fit onto a games disc with 17 other games with a 31 filename catalog.

regards,
Mick.

had a spare few hours to myself, and a combination of everything I usually try, plus more tricks  , and eventually got ALL the tape files! \:D/

now all you have to do is, put them all back to .UEF (I can do, but had enough for one night  )

this would of been an easy tape to disc transfer BITD, as the SSD works, so Shift-Break to go!

Mick,
Do you still need the Micro User classic Arcade games tape?
There's one on eBay now...

Also by Micro user "9 classic card and board games" is the disc version archived? As I have just found it in a pile of stuff?...

Hi Lee,
Just need to check Classic Arcade Games tape to see if there is any difference/extras than the disc hack, but please don't spend too much money on it as it is not that important unless you want col to uef it for the archieve.

regards,
Mick.
