The Entrepreneur (1984, Vulcan Computing)

Post by retrohistories » Sun Jun 23, 2019 10:22 am

Here's an ad from May 1984's Acorn User for a business simulator called The Entrepreneur, the only game ever released by a small and short-lived company in Surrey called Vulcan Computing. It doesn't seem to be preserved anywhere, and a search of the forum doesn't show a single mention of it.

If you're wondering what's so interesting about this obscure title... it was the first game written by Bullfrog/Lionhead co-founder Peter Molyneux! He talks about it in this interview (link points to timecode), where he also claims (slightly exaggerating, perhaps) that only two copies were sold. Because of that, I think the chances of this one being found are remote... but it'd be quite the find!

Wow, this is so obscure that it might well be lost forever. But it’s probably still worth Lee adding it to the MIA list. I think the latest version of the list is here:

Thanks for posting about this game. Let’s hope it turns up somewhere...

EDIT: Corrected link.
