If anyone has the 3rd of June 1982 (page 7) Personal Computer World, I'd love a scan of it for a book I'm writing.

I believe this is the cover for that magazine:

Popular Computing Weekly as per the picture as opposed to Personal Computer World as per the text?
The article about Sunbury on Thames Computer Club? If so, I don't have it to scan, but it's online here:

Popular Computing Weekly, and page 6. I was having a nightmare. Thank you. :)

That's the exact thing, but I'm after a high-quality scan of the Llamasoft advert on page 6, ideally.

Hi
Does anyone have any issues of "What Micro" magazine?
If so, does it mention the "volume" and "issue number" anywhere inside the cover?

Thanks

Do we have any budget for these 3 MIA "Games Computing" magazines?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3002810427

Look at others seller's other items. She has 3 issues. All missing from the archives.
These are quite rare, although the is another eBay listing for some issues, that the seller has started at £50

Hi
Does anyone have the scan of Games Computing magazine from January 1985 that was, until recently, available on Acorn Electron World but now seems to have disappeared...

I echo that. It is needed for my on-line archive. June, July and December 1984 and February 1985 are also missing, if anyone has them. [-o<

I'll put that Games Computing that I scanned over 20 years ago onto www.everygamegoing.com. There'll be a new release on Saturday so after that you should be able to browse by magazine and find it again.

There was also an ASP mag called Electronics Today that had a number of projects for the Elk in it. I had scanned that too but that's also dropped off the new version of the AEW site. I'll add that to everygamegoing.com as well.

Hi,
Does anyone have any "COMPUTING TODAY" magazines from 1984 or 1985? (I don't need Jan, Mar, or Jun 84)

Does anyone have "PERSONAL COMPUTING TODAY" magazines OCT 82 or DEC 82?, or any from 1983 (I don't need January) or any from 1984 (I don't need Jan or Jun), or any from 1985 (I don't need Feb).

Thanks!

Lee.
I know this is an old thread but I have a full set of Computing Today up to Nov 84, and also Jul 85 and Aug 85. Do you still need anything looking up in those?

Hi,
I am looking for any games listings for the BBC Micro or Electron.
Computing Today hasn't been fully trawled.
If you could look through the magazines from 1982 1983 1984 and 1985 for any games listings it would be appreciated.
This doesn't take as long as it sounds 😀 as Computing Today didn't have many type-ins and most weren't games...
Slightly more tedious is looking for any references to mistakes or updates previously printed programs. I believe these usually appeared in the PRINTOUT section...

The listings I already know about are FROGLET from April 1983 and updated in June 1983, PLANETFALL from August 1983, and POKER from March 1984.
Any updates for Poker would be appreciated as it appears to be buggy as printed in March 1984.

Thanks in advance.
EDIT: No need to look at April or August 1982, or April, May, June, July or August 1983, or Jan, March, June 1984. :D

Ok, I've been through all of Jan 82-Nov 84 plus Jul-Aug 85. I didn't see anything for the Electron at all, just Beeb.

There is a letter in Aug 83 about a small change to FROGLET

I couldn't find any updates for PLANETFALL (in fact, the letters page, Printout, seems to disappear completely around the end of 83).

Apr 84 has a full POKER part 2 article which is more of a line-by-line description of the program than any bugfixes, although there is an 'Adjustments' paragraph at the end. No more POKER updates in subsequent issues that I can see.

Oct 84 has a DRAUGHTS program for the Beeb. No updates in subsequent issues.

Jul 85 has part 1 of a CRIBBAGE program for BBC/CPC464 and Aug 85 continues this. I don't have any later issues to check for updates to these (I'm not even sure that the magazine existed long after this, I've seen at least one website saying Jul 85 was the last issue).
[Edit: just realised that Part 2 doesn't say it is the last part so it could well be that this was never completed. Some of the listings are very faint in the magazine too so may be hard to read on the scan]

I'm happy to scan all of these articles if you want - what is the best way to get them to you?

There were various other BBC programs which I wouldn't personally class as games (Planetary Motion Simulator, Word Processor, Touch Type Tutor, Geometric Pattern Maker, Fast Sort Routine, Mode 7 Editor, Proportional Font Spacing, Database, Disassembler, Error Trap Routine) but which I am happy to scan if any of them sound relevant to you.

Hi Simon,
Well done, this is much appreciated.
I would like to see the letter indicating the adjustment to Froglet.
I have the Poker article, thanks.
I would love to see the Draughts and the Cribbage articles though.
You could just take mobile phone photos of them if you like.
Scans would be better, but as long as I can read everything then I will get them all typed in.

You could give me a dropbox link, or email them to me at leenewsome12 AT G M A I L dot c o m

Thanks!

Lee.

Just mailed you a zip of JPG scans of each page. Hope they are clear enough - let me know if not.

Received - thank you Simon!
I think the quality is OK.
The cribbage one is a bit rough, but I will try typing it in.
I see what you mean though... at a glance I am not sure if it is complete.
I will list the PROCs and DEFprocs and see if they line up...

One other thing - if you are interested... you may want to liase with John "flaxcottage" Dale.
He hosts flaxcottage.com which amongst other things, has scans of Computing Today magazines.
You have some missing ones....

Well it looks as if the magazine survived at least until the September 1985 edition: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/ ... mber-1985/
I wonder if the last part of CRIBBAGE is in there??

Lee.
EDIT: Typed Draughts in already

Hi John,
I can see about 12 issues that I have that you don't seem to have on your website. It's going to take me some time to scan them but I can do it piecemeal whenever I get some free time and send you complete issues once each one is done. My scanner only scans one page at a time (to JPG) so is it ok to make each page as a separate file and then zip all the pages for each issue and put them up on dropbox or similar?

Yes, I am missing quite a few of the modern ones - all the ones without pictures. :?

Any that you can manage will be very gratefully received, thanks. The zipped files for one issue will be large so a Dropbox link would be the way to go.

I've sent you a PM.

Hi,
Does anyone have a copy of "The Book of Games 1987" which was a supplement within Computer & Video Games issue 64?

I am attempting to type in "Mega Elite Commander" (a mod to give an armed-to-the-teeth Elite status commander) but it is unreadable.
Here is the offending page. I can't make out some of the DATA statements in lines 610 to 700.
elite3.jpg
There is a checksum routine so it should be self evident when it is correct..

Lee.

**Hold off that search - I may have found it through trial and error**

Hi,
Does anyone have a copy of Computer & Video Games magazine issue 64.
It contained "The book of games 1987" and *that* contained a game called Transplex.
I have typed the game in from the only scan that is available, but it is so poor I have had to make some guesses. Some good pics of the listing would be much appreciated.
