Oh..... forgot Gisburne's castle! Anyone know if that behaviour is correct?
<EDIT>
Behaviour confirmed as correct by Pernod, so removed from the problems list :D

The versions found on my compilations work fine in BeebEm, and obviously on the Beeb as that's where they were originally created:
Fortress: Space Games 1
Sabre Wulf: Maze Games 1
Bug Eyes: Platform Games 2
3D Space Raider: Space Games 2

Also tried some of the others you list from the STH collection:
3D Space Raider
Guardian
Who Dares Wins II
etc. all work fine too.

Also, Gisburnes Castle is correct.

Maybe if Mick could nick some of your files for his disks??
I will check your versions of these games with my beeb/datacentre tomorrow, as well as doin' a few more of Mick's and will post the results....

just checked Pernods disks.

Sabre Wulf has MrT in the high score table (which is someone's hack as it should be P.P, ULT, M.G and AGF).
Bug Eyes has the Zelda graphics which I always believed was the pre-release where I have the white suit with fire hydron graphics.
Sadly, there does not appear to be a uef image of the original release in the archive so which version is the correct release version and which is the actual alternative?

Mick.

Wasn't aware of that, don't remember where it came from.

Again, can't confirm where this came from either.

Hi,
Mick I tend to agree that your version is the release version of Bug Eyes. The simple reason being that if you check Bug Eyes II, they use the spaceman again....

Righty hoo...

Checked MB's disks 16 to 20 and here are the results.

Disk 016 MATCH DAY says MATCHDAY on your menu screen Mick :D
Disk 020 GENESIS PROJECT I cannot seem to get this to do anything interesting. Is it working properly????
Disk 020 STAIRWAY TO HELL does not work. Has weird mode 7 graphics corruption.

My eyes are burning but I shall try to do 21 to 25 8)

Simon Quinlank! What an excellent hobby you have too. :)
I've recently imaged the original disks of Daley Thompson, Raid Over Moscow and Shark, i don't think any of them were protected, so you could test those if you liked!

Hi,
Does anyone have an original tape of 3D space raider to confirm/deny it loads as space ace?
Also anyone have an original tape of Bug eyes to check graphics and control behaviour?
Cheers.

Hi Lee,
I can confirm having the original Fistful Of Fun pack BITD and it did load as 3D Space Raider in the Alligata loader and then display Space-Ace in the main game.

As for Bug Eyes, I too would love to see an original tape image of the release version. I cannot remember now where my copy came from, although I did buy the tape BITD but I think a disk hack came my way just afterwards so I didn't bother transfering the tape although I seem to remember so sort of protection on the later files but can't be sure!

not under my bed anymore Lee :( , as like Mick, put to disc BITD then sold them on.
Sure I never had it as a 'stand alone' tape, was on Audiogenic-The Complete BBC 7game pack
protection
not on the one i had, but was a little pain, as i ended up having no border (from the loader file before) in the main game, so if I got fed up with a hard level, could just fall off side and complete level

EDIT, found mine & added below

my original tape rip here :
download/file.php?id=3742
(after i had stuck the tape back together, as it broke [-( )
and the single .ssd from STH works (on emulator anyways)
http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/archi ... rriors.zip
checked my own disc, but had to use SWRAM to get mine going BITD

does anyone notice the bug? the playing screen aint inline with the score board on right, bad Players [-X

EDIT : just noticed your edit Lee....
BUG EYES II and SPACE AGENT ZELDA same?
the first1 is called "SPACE AGENT ZELDA meets the Bugeyes" (as my fall off side version above, and "Bugeyes II starman to the rescue" is a Completely different game, as has the guy in a crap SinclairC5 :|

Dunno if this is any help, but that disc image contains my own tape rips of Bug Eyes (from The Complete BBC compilation) and Shanghai Warriors.

Bug Eyes has borders intact - although now Col's said about that, I do remember running into that trouble too - and Shanghai doesn't require SWRAM to load.
These both worked on my Beeb, and also play fine in BeebEm :)

Hi Cybershark
Just tried these:

Zelda Meets the bugeyes: this has the same control problem whereby your character (Zelda?) just walks to the right with no input from the keyboard making it difficult to control.
Also, Mick Brown's is definitely called BUG EYES only, with no Zelda meets the...
The character is a white suited spaceman which is very similar to the one used in Bug Eyes II.
So really we are no further forward on this one.
Need a version that controls properly, AND need to know if the red suited 'Zelda meets....' or the White suited 'Bug Eyes' is the correct original release version...

Shanghai Warriors seems to load a bit better :D although you have to press escape a couple of times, and when the game loads, the top of the screen isn't right.
Don't know if this is a product of PAGE being set at &1700??
<EDIT>
<EDIT>

They both seem to work OK in BEEBEM (except for a small pixel above the head of the first baddie on the left in Shanghai Warriors 8) ) and YEP it seems OK in BEEBEM (same pixel :D )
