The sound on Alien Swirl will be faulty on most disk hacks as the sound envelopes get moved to an address that hacked copies of the game overrun.
The version on my disk works correctly as the sound envelopes are moved to a safe area.

Well done Lee!

In answer to a couple of your questions:

1) Syncron - is it too fast? I doubt it. This game was intended to be very fast by the author (Gary Partis) and in practice is virtually unplayable. Even the Elk version is terrifically fast. Quite why he decided to design a game like this I don't know.

2) The Sentinel - codes. Yes, needing to enter 0000 is normal. Whenever you complete a level it gives you a code to another one. The levels are automatically generated from the codes.

"Disk S1, program BORED OF THE RINGS PARTS 2, 3 & 4: ASK FOR PASSWORDS"

IIRC, that's not an error; when you complete part 1 you get told the password to part 2, and so on. It's to stop you jumping ahead in the game :-)

eg from B2.2

Code: Select all

   1*FX200,3
    2MODE7:PRINT'''"^EPlease enter the password":INPUT"^F"a$:REM^?^?^?^?^U
    3IFa$<>"Psychoanalysis" THEN CALL!-4:GOTO3
    4REM^F

Cheers Guys,
I will remove those entries as being errors then.
Also removed ELITE Tube/Master error as that was OBVIOUSLY never going to load on a 'B' ...

Started checking Michael Brown's 100 disks....
Same setup as before:

(Standard 'B' with DFS 1.20 fitted, loading all games from an internal datacentre)
(*DTRAP SET which sets page to &1700 and intercepts all *disk calls)

Here are the results of the first 5 disks.....

Disk 001 OK
Disk 002 OK
Disk 003 OK
Disk 004 OK
Disk 005 OK (fortress fixed by MB on 26/01/13)
right, onto the next 5 when I get a minute :D
ps, I have to say that these disks do seem to be more complete than the STH disks.
They seem to be more true to the cassette versions, with more complete intro's etc. Good work Mick 8)

wow!
thanks Lee.

Just taken a look at the faulty titles on my real BBC.

Fortress does hang as the start.
Bug Eyes controls sends you to the right.
Sabre Wulf hangs upon loading.

Originally, I only tested these games on BeebEm and B-em and not a real Beeb.
However, I have now found copies of these titles on some old 40 track disks and all 3 titles load and work correctly on my real BBC but have been butchered by hackers at the time.
I will therefore restore the working hacked copies to how they should be and copy them onto the relevant disks and re-issue them here at some point (may take time).

Thank you once again for testing my disks and finding these faults.

PS Forbidden Fruit seemed to work OK, but I only tested the first level. At what point did the graphics go wild?

Keep up the good work and if there are more faulty games then I will do my best to correct them as it is important to have disks that work under both emulation and a real BBC.

regards,
Mick.

Cheers Mick, thanks for the support :D I will be checking all 100 disks but it is time consuming! Forbidden fruit crashes straight away. The main character is garbled and this seems to cause a collision detection. so its 3 instant deaths. I will double check it from a cold start tomorrow.

<EDIT> FORBIDDEN FRUIT: POWER CYCLE BEFORE LOADING AND IT WORKS OK :D

I am glad someone else is on my side with this as we need 100% discs, and I think the more that work with data centre the better :D
Cheers.
Lee.
