Can I ask what you are using on the beeb to correctly display telstar I have connected via serial cable and a hayes emulator in a PC

The beeb is running Commstar which I burned to a ROM. It has a normal terminal mode and a 'viewdata' mode which works perfectly in mode 7 for telstar.

Just to let you know that Telstar now has a dial up service. All V23 (1200/75 baud) modems should work including the Acorn Prestel adapter.

The access number is 01756 664433 and whilst this is still a experimental, it is my intention that this becomes a permanent addition to Telstar.

The system uses a couple of Dowty Quattro modems attached to SIP connections via analogue telephone adapters (ATAs) and seems to be very reliable.
