Which board to post about books, magazines, etc.

Post by SimonSideburns » Wed Mar 18, 2015 10:41 pm

Looking for somewhere on the forum to discuss books, but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated board.

Where do you suggest I write my topic. Is it worthwhile setting up a new board for documentation, books, magazines?

My query relates to a book about programming sideways roms for the BBC Micro, and I wondered if anyone had a copy or knew where I could get hold of one.

My friend who was heavily into Acorn stuff in general had the book and leant me it in the early 1990s to write my custom password protection rom. I'd love to get hold of a copy again, either in digital form or the real deal.

Not too sure on the name of the book, but pretty sure it's got the word sideways in the title.
I'm writing a game where you can change your character from a Wizard to a monkey to a cat.

Well, Imogen that!

Could be "Advanced Sideways RAM User Guide for the MASTER and BBC Computers" by Bruce Smith?

By the same author "The BBC Micro ROM Book"

Here's another on-line reference I have found useful:

I actually learned sideways RAM programming and some other techniques from that book by Bruce Smith. It's well written and quite readable.
