I can’t get the disc image to load - says something about the disk being double sided and the wrong disk type being selected but I can’t find anything in Beebem’s menus.
Sorry for the shameful technophobia but can anyone help?

BeebEm does that to me too - I just hit ok twice and then it loads normally...

I get the same msg, the disk appears to still boot correctly and I can play the game on BeebEm.

Have you tried booting?

Don't panic. Just hit <ENTER> twice and it will load and you'll be fine. The nerves will calm and you will be into gaming goodness.

I think there are a couple ways to do level 7. The way I do it means I get all the keys before I face a perfectly timed jump over the last kangaroo, but it has to be perfect, it's why I haven't done it yet.....gotta get the jump down.

Up to level 14 now. Frustratingly, the game before, I had 27250 and wasn't quick enough to press print screen. The lack of a high score table is frustrating!

And armed with that new information... I encountered Kong and had a flashback to that horrendous Hard Hat Harry level! At least he ain't chucking barrels this time!

It's harder than the Spectrum version I think.
Anyway, a small improvement...

I had to play through the whole game when I ported it to VIC-20.
The hardest level by a large margin is yet to come - The Warehouse.
I think I died 100 times.

After much effort I defeated Kong - I didn't realise they were switches, I thought they were things to avoid! Got past the amoebas and the Endorian Forest (that last apple was tough) and ended up in a new nightmare...

Finally managed to get through that pesky telephone level. Amusingly, on this run, I managed to get Eugene stuck at the top of the screen, making it a cake walk to get to the exit. Not quite sure how I did it, but I think I collected the last item just as he reached the top of the screen. I wish I'd taken a screenshot. Is this supposed to happen, or have I encountered a bug?

Anyway: 22398!

Funnily enough that happened to me this evening. First time it's happened to me.
Eugene is supposed to move down and sit on the exit. He moves quicker on the BBC version than in the Spectrum original which makes it harder.

I've had the same thing, it's either perfect timing or a bug, happens very rarely and nice to get if the jump is messed up which probably happens more often than it should.

It's a perk if you get it right. It's not a bug, I've done this several times.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up!

Had a good run after lunch - and got to Level 14. Now I need to get there with enough lives to have a proper go.

Level 14 is INFURIATING! I just had an almost perfect run upto 14, with three lives intact and lost them all very quickly indeed. I don't think it helps that Willy seems to become more erratic and unresponsive when there's a lot going on on the screen. Worse yet, having had that good run my score was actually worse than the one I posted previously!!! ](*,)

I feel the need for beer :D
