About 100K better than last time. I don’t know how people have the stamina for huge scores. I get ‘chuckie egg claw’ after one game!

Once you get onto level 9 your score will shoot up. I found levels 9-16 easier than 1-8 and the bonuses are more generous too!

Ahh, one of my favourite games of all time.

Respect to anyone who's managed to get past level 32, that's something I've never managed. I can usually get to level 31 or so, like in this game:

Dammit... one egg short of completing level 32

Rote memorisation seems to be the key to level 32. I was just starting to get the hang of it after losing a dozen lives or so. Still, that's the closest I've ever got...

Really sorry to post this score. It took me 4 hours and 23 minutes. After level 128 the timer goes down to 100 so that's what claimed most of my lives.

Once you've sussed out how to do level 40 without losing too many lives, you can go on for a long time. The levels just repeat with the same number of birds but the timer goes down gradually until it starts off at 100 on level 128. There were lots of times when I thought I was done for, but then made an extra few lives on the easier levels so that I could spend them on the level 40 clones (level 48, 56, 64, 72, etc.).

I've seen accounts of people managing to get past level 255 at which point the game starts back at level 1 (apparently). Before this competition I'd never gotten past level 32 (even back in the day when my reflexes were a lot sharper; or so I thought).

Fantastic! Well done!
That's what makes the high score challenge so worthwhile. None of us would play these games 'seriously' if it wasn't for the challenge.

Thanks. As for masochistic, I can definitely agree with you there. At a few points in the game I was close to packing it in but then I would've been kicking myself for not seeing how far I could go. I did take a screenshot along the way to show the timer starting at 99 at level 168 on that play, and also before I hit 1000000 on the play where I got to level 64, just in case the score showed 0 after hitting it (I didn't know the real score still shows on the high score table).

I may change my game nominations as some of the games I like to play have really awkward key choices and no option to change them. I tried playing Thrust the other day and Qwak! but the keys for the BBC versions are really weird when using a PC keyboard. I'll have to have a look out for games with "sensible" key combinations
