Don't worry, I'll be along shortly to give you some low scores to beat :D

Guess you are playing on a Master going by the mangled characters at the top of the screen? Maybe I'll make a slight diversion to make a Master-compatible version ...

I think I know what to do on level 2 but it's firstly, hard to get there and then hard to achieve but we will persevere.

We will check this game on my Master to see if it does the same Richard.

OK, I have Mark's 4 way OS switch and when I use the 1.2 OS, the characters are just fine. I also tested it on 3.50 and the characters were wonky.....so, Paul, if you have Mark's 4 way OS switch, use 1.2 to get everything right. If not, it's a good idea to get. It will make your Master more compatible with Beeb software. btw, I like real hardware best. Only took 2 tries to get a better score than I had on the emulator.

Second round (after level 4) is brutal, made it to level 2 but died a silly death on the first trampoline so hopefully can push higher with better luck and timing.

It's another one of those pixel perfect and slightly frustrating logic games but underneath it's not so bad once you work out a way through each level barring of course the random monster bits.

Ed, which part on level 2 is giving you trouble?

For me, it's usually the top vines that bring me undone due to the unpredictable bird patterns, I try to wait near the left until a bird drops low, then race across to the middle area where the vines are longer and try to dodge the next bird then up and finish.

The bottom section is tricky but not so bad if you get your jumps right, make sure the second moving vine is all the way left before dismounting ](*,)

I've yet to get to the vines after several tries. I usually die trying to get from the short hanging bar to the climbing dashed ropes.....haven't succeeded in getting there yet. I think it's just execution.

Edit: It was execution. I didn't get through all of level 2 but I see how to do it. If I had moved faster across the ropes I think I'd have been fine. Anyway, I picked up a few more points.

A couple of hints:

Instead of just randomly going through the level, getting past the monsters, try to knock them off with the apples and other objects that give you 400 points. The monsters yeild 800 points. Besides, on the first level, it's difficult to get to the end if you don't 'bonk' the ones on the last vines. They are merciless in chasing you.

Be patient, sometimes moving gets you lower on lives.

As far as I can see, all these levels have a route to get through them, although I've not seen level 4 yet. Patience rewards. The monsters are easy to kill once you see how slow some of them move.

Keep it up Richard, you're doing fine. I was about there when I got started on this too.....
