Finally broke 10k. It's only a matter of time to do that but it's very painful getting there, that's for sure. This game seems to be one that you want to play but it hurts to continue on. How much pain can you take?

I think you guys may have enjoyed this more if you hadn't just had 2 weeks of Frenzy.

It's a shame :(

Having said that I'm stuck in a rut and can't seem to improve my score from yesterday.

To be honest Barbarossa, Frenzy was what I would term a 'fair' game in that problems were caused by a person's own poor choices in the game.

Kix is more random in it's play and a good score is more good luck than good management. The game had the potential to be great but it's got too many gotchas for my liking. I don't mind tough, we've definitely had some of those but they were mostly tough and fair, not tough and randomly ridiculous.

Having said that, I still find it somewhat addictive and don't mind returning to it.

Just my 2p worth.

To me frenzy and kix shows the difference between a coin-op arcade game and a home computer game. Kix is based on Qix and it seems to be a very good effort. Qix is designed to get you hooked and keep taking 10p coins off you.

That's a very good point.

When you feel you have been killed unjustly, the temptation is stronger for "just one more go...", whereas when you feel you've reached your skill limit... not so much ;)

I still think it's a shame they came out of the hat together.

Now I have to try and beat my score

Not quite got the hang of this yet. But it's good to play this after Frenzy, interesting to see how they compare.

A small improvement... 7840

What is the finish date for this, think a copy and paste issue with the date at the start of the post.

just cleaned up the pins on a M128 thanks to TopBananna's clear out,
so had a go to see if the User port /6522 was working, and got to level 7!

did anyone notice the tune when high score screen is left to play??
it's : The Animals - The House of the Rising Sun 1964
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sB3Fjw3Uvc
sure I read they recorded that tune over peak (>+3db) to give more distortion, to make tune even more madder :o

Finally a reasonably respectable score, not massively keen on this game, and agree with the comments about the 'kix' thing being a bit random, sometimes it works in your favour other times it doesn't. The things going round the edges are a bit unfair too if you lose a life on a 'kix' when you are reinstated if there is an edge thing next to you, another life goes straight away, certainly needed a bit of fine tuning to make it a better game.

It was only ever released as a 'new release' on the Superior Collection volume 2 (Blue ribbon might of re-issued it later on) which might explain a few things.

Final High Score Tables updated for Round 10......

This game was somewhat similar to Frenzy but not as 'friendly' for sure. Today,
JoolsH stole the show by not only winning this game handily but also winning Season 9 running away. Congratulations on a job well done Jools...... =D> =D> =D>

Jools has chosen Boxer for the Championship round so hope to see you all there......

Thanks everyone! A good mix of games this season, some classics and some new to me. "Creepy Cave" was probably the undiscovered gem this season for me. Even Kix, irritating though it was, started to grow on me a little by the end.
