Yeh, I have enough trouble, even on the easy levels without giving up a life for free...... and yes, it would definitely be against the rules.....

Ok, had another blast and made it a little further, luck of the draw with not many bugs this time around.

I also want to say my feelings on this game bear no relation to who chose it, it's a bad game and not a bad choice. I love this competition as it has gotten me to play a whole lot of games I've never played before and some I'd given up on too early so to find a bad egg now and then is to be expected.

Ok, wow, this is painful but there is now a new high score..... 6,695 ...

So as Barbaross69 said, the 3rd round is like the first round, relatively easy compared to round 2 and round 4 is like round 2. I have no idea if it just keeps repeating because I didn't quite get through round 4, very close but got stumble fingers right at the end.

Just a token score from me this round after reading how much 'fun' you lot have had playing it.

If you play it enough, it gets better but you can still get into situations where you lose all your lives because the game was not well written.

I love Marble Madness, but this is painfully buggy and clunky. I'm not sure I've got the patience for this...

Isn't Marble Maddness essentially the same game? I played it off the Complete Acorn Games Site and it played the same, same issues with the program. It is a patience testing game but certainly it can be achieved to a pretty good level once you know the pitfalls a bit.

Ah, I was talking about the arcade version, didn't know there was a beeb port with the same name.

Same name, not the same game. I had a look at Marble Madness for Atari, it's completely different and looks to be a smooth system to play the game. Maybe Vertigo for the Beeb is better......

Inertia by the 4th Dimension is the best game of this style for the BBC - I really enjoy it, and it would be great for a high score competition.

As with Sydney, this is just a token effort from me. In my case It's because my maggot brain has never been able to reconcile the north-south-east-west controls with a 3D layout which surely demands northwest-southwest-northeast-southeast controls. Why in heaven aren't the game keys AZ*?, as per some of the MRM 3D maze/screen games, rather than ZX*? ?

Just 655 points from me, alas, and even that might be a lifetime best.

I will be a way until a few hours after the competition closes for this round. I will update this when I get back.

In the mean time, as it was almost unanimous for Tricky's Centipede and to do a week of that before we start Round 4 of Season 9, that page is already loaded and once 9 PM UK time hits, have at 'er as they say in the deep south..... and good luck.

Tried this one more time, see if could beat score, 3 games and every single one got stuck in the scenary and couldn't move anywhere. With a bit of proper play testing and bug fixing this would of been a pretty decent game, if you like this type of game I recommend Inertia from 4th Dimension, especially the Arc version.

Now onto Centipede for a week!

Final High Score Tables updated for Round 3......

This was a really tough game folks. There were a plethora of bugs in it and the game play was less than stellar but we got through it, one and all. Today,
KarateEd outlasted the group to the end result of first place. I take my bows and thank you all for playing, especially considering the difficulty of this game... =D> =D> =D>

Well done, Ed. Especially for sticking at it, it can't have been much fun.

You seem to have missed a few scores, or were they too pathetic to register?

e.g. my 660 and Jeremy Grayson's 655 (yes! I wasn't last!!!)

Aye, according to my maths it looks as if I'm owed 9.57 points and Richard about the same. Every little helps... :-)

My apologies gentlemen. I guess I was so relieved this one was over that I must have forgotten some of my duties. Your scores are worthy considering this game and that you played it at all is meritorious.

I believe all is square on the score front now.
