This is just to get us started. I'm sure the Jools of the world will come along and show us how this is played.

Well, let's have a go then 8)

It's a bit hectic. I've played a lot worse games.

Hectic is the word, noticed the kill points seem to increase with levels.

I can't cope with the gap between C and B ... why couldn't he use Z and X like everybody else ... :-({|=

792 so far, did a screenshot then pressed F12 in jsbeeb on the high score table ... doh #-o

Can't remember ever having seen this game, it's not bad (not a classic, obviously, but certainly better than my non-existent attempts!)

It is a strange choice of controls... I'd never heard of this game before, but that's the great thing about this competition :-) I got this score playing in jsbeeb, will have a go on real hardware next. My best so far: 1447

OK, I've got the hang of it now. Shoot yourself a nice hole in the middle of the aliens to give yourself breathing room, and let the aliens come to you. Just try to avoid messing up.

OK that's my high-score for the moment...

This is quite a frustrating game! Incidentally, I've remapped the keys on BeebEm to Z and X, and / to fire.
(Repeatedly pressing SHIFT was causing my PC to think I wanted to turn on sticky-keys...)

As the proteans vaguely move from left to right, I vaguely go the opposite way, from right to left. But yeah, the last couple on each level are a bit of a lottery...

Slightly better score (than Ed  )

Seems to be a bug where sometimes after killing an enemy missiles keep hitting the same spot until you move somewhere else, can't work out if yet if score keeps going up, need an extra pair of eyes to investigate further.

Score: 2289

Yeah I've noticed that, it's quite annoying! As far as I can see the score doesn't increase though.

Slight better score, still struggle with the last alien of each wave, just got a bit lucky on this run.

Scoring for each alien appears to be a multiple of 3 points times the wave number.

Another slight improvement, made it to wave 8 this time. Had a lot more practice runs but hit reset in disgust then had a super lucky run...

Not sure about this one. It feels like a good game and I should love it but I feel a bit cheated every time I get killed by a ridiculously fast enemy.

Best score so far, not sure it will get any higher it might do. It's apretty decent game - reminds me a bit of Positron and one of the levels of Swoop, but I don't like the going mental bit of a few left at the end of the screen - makes it way too random and difficult. Other than that an interesting title - first time i've ever played it.

Nice and noisy too !
