Nearly finished level 3. It's a little brutal, in that if you make one mistake and block some diamonds off, there's no way to reset the level - that's effectively game over.

KarateEd wrote:Well, I was also wondering how it would go but it seems to be doing fairly well. It's not any odder than some other games. It's a level type game with a certain amount of points to it, multiple ways to score those points to have a score climb higher, or not, and there are choices all along the way so it actually makes a very good choice for the challenge.
I wasn't sure how well it work when I suggested it, there are lots of games that'd be great to play that don't necessarily fit the high score format, so this was a bit of an experiment. I'm pleased it seems to be going pretty well... I didn't know that the game continues after level 12, I assumed it would end and there'd be a maximum possible "perfect" score. I never completed the game in one sitting before, so that's my aim...

Still stuck on level G, but a slightly better score this time... 20,190

I'm about the same on D level. More practice. I just squandered 4 lives on that level but at least now I have the layout better in my mind and should do better.

Just for the avoidance of doubt - are we only counting scores from games that have started from Level A, rather than from later and perhaps more richly endowed levels?

If so, this 'ere piddling 11,146 is the best I've managed so far. I can better that by another thousand, but only from starting on level D.

Splendid, thanks. I thought that was likeliest, but just wanted to make sure I was diddling myself out of a merely moderate score, as opposed to the very moderates score above :-)

Got a bit further, now trying to solve H. That vertical movement on the right side of the puzzle is challenging.

My last one as I'm going to Kamloops tomorrow to see our grandkids.....

A very silly mistake cost me this level, over zealous on my man movement and covered a rock.....

Just to let folks know, I've put next week's game up as I'm away from my computer for a few days. There are no graphics yet, I'll do that later but the link is there for the game so as not to deter anyone from playing while I'm gone.....usual rules, Monday after 9 PM, thanks folks.

I don't know why but I've never really enjoyed any of the Repton games so this is my one and only attempt at this.

This is an awful level, I have always hated it, and still do , it is totally down to luck rather than skill, the whole point of Repton is to solve puzzles, work out the solution, so to have a level which is totally random with three monsters coming at you and you have to collect all the diamonds in that area, and hope you don't get killed is pretty intense.

The only way I could do it was to ignore the monsters and go straight down into the bottom half of the level, the monsters will follow but get stuck behind a boulder, clear the bottom of the level, then kill myself under the boulder of the last diamond, you lose a life but start back up at the top without the monsters on your tail, so it's easy to finish now, I couldn't do it any other way.

I really should like it though. It's got good graphics, music, sound and gameplay. I just find myself turning it off after a few minutes.
