I'm ashamed to say that I've never played this before! It's nice to see a bit of a change from the platform genre though. I'll have a crack tomorrow after work as it's getting late now.

Okay, I had a few goes before bed. This one takes quite a bit of getting used to and I bet there'll be some seasoned pros at playing this.

I always thought this was a good arcade conversion, but does it stand the test of time? I used to play this quite a bit... 29,900

Well, this is a bit frenetic! I don't really understand what happened, but somehow I got what seemed a very generous bonus!

Not really getting the hang of things with this one so far :? . It's not a bad game though, even if it is difficult to see what's going on some of the time and dodging the bullets is hit and miss.

I do like me a bit of Tempest! (and also Tempest 2000 and Typhoon2001 - if you've never played Typhoon it's worth tracking down. It's a completely free version of Tempest 2000 for PC with lots of tweaks. I believe some copyright holder - or other bean counting type - forced the developer to pull it, but it's still around if you look).

This would be a perfect beeb zone game for me... but unfortunately when you get to level 20 you can't really see what's going on, what's coming at you, where you need to be, or what you need to avoid, so it becomes a matter of luck more than anything else. I think I'd have preferred a bit more resolution and fewer colours.

Not entirely sure I know what I'm doing (just shoot everything?)

The other problem with these levels is the frame rate (which isn't great anyway) starts to drop a lot. I can only imagine what it's like on level 60... 1 frame per week, perhaps? ;)
