This is the first time I've ever played this and I'm definitely not sorry that I missed it first time around (if it was ever available on the Electron) as it's a right stinker! Jerky, unresponsive controls and like wading through treacle :(

Anyway, for what it's worth, here's the result of a few goes. Can't see myself playing much of this to be honest.

@Venger - yeh, this game works ok with a joystick, not so much from keyboard.

A bit of a boost.....

Don't know what to make of this one, love the concept, not liking the actual clunky game play too much, no option to play joystick unless I use mouse emulation through beeb-em.

Will have another few turns and post what ever scores comes out, will be minimal.

Well done for getting a decent score though, I am struggling to get one tank each game.

It does take a while to even figure out how to try and dodge projectiles. I'm not liking the clunkiness either. I'm probably being a bit harsh because I'm used to Blitzkrieg on the Electron which is a far better tank game.

Neither of you are being too harsh on this one. if you don't have a joystick it's a real beggar to play. It was one of the very first games I had/played on the Beeb bitd. I didn't like it much then but I also didn't have many choices in my s/w library if you know what I mean so I played it more than I would have liked. These days I have joysticks, decent ones I got from Mark H. @ Retroclinic and they work a treat on this game. It's still clunky but you can play it and get decent scores if you use good technique to avoid missiles/aim properly at tanks.

For me the key is getting the tank before he can shoot.

Does the game increase in difficulty as you go along? It seems not as far as I can tell, each time you destroy a tank another one simply appears in a random location. There's a technique to learn to avoid getting hit, but the thing I find frustrating is how the rotation isn't smooth so it's hard to aim at the enemy tanks. I guess this was one of the earliest Beeb games with 3D wireframe graphics?

Best so far: 8,000

As far as I can tell the timing changes a bit and the tank eventually fires quicker. The locations of placement get closer I think as your score increases.
I've found that after about 15k everything starts to seem harder. It could just be me but certainly after 20k it is. I had 2 lives left on my last high score when I hit 20k and the tanks mercilessly finished those off before I could amass even 5k more. I think the difficulty increases over higher scores.

This was one of the earliest 3D wire frame so they didn't exactly have timings down right on the hardware for it.

Got to love that buttery smooth 3FPS action, wow

I got a score of 9,120 at normal speed. It's like walking through treacle, though. I don't think I've got the patience to have another go.

I also tried it in the emulator at 400% speed. It vastly improves the game, turning it into a pretty enjoyable fast paced tank shooter. I actually managed to get a higher score at 400% speed than I did at normal speed (13,600), but presumably that's not allowed...

Yeh, we pretty much are stuck to playing the games as stock as possible. I don't think there is a way on hardware to 'boost' game play on it.

I tried my joystick which works in Windows but made BeebEm hang so went back to the keyboard and got 14880.

Abandoned my cat and mouse strategy and just went for it with a more aggressive play and got 17200. More fun too. Actually, I think you get more points for taking out the enemy tank quicker.
