Not really my kind of game.
Got to level 3 but only scored 859 points so my level 2 score is my best so far.

Actually completed a level or two this time!
I remember how frustrating this game was BITD until I discovered the trick of playing it (the BBC version) on my Electron [-X
Anyway, no such luxury this time so...

I don't think I'm going to get much higher than this. Level 9 has three ghosts and they move really fast. Coupled with the "spider of doom", and the fact that you can't always manoeuvre them into a spot where you can get past them all, I don't think I'll be able to get any further.

I don't think it's probable that I'll get any further but the score may be able to be improved upon. I don't think I'll go back to it though unless someone gets near it or surpasses it. I think I've had my fill of Ghouls for now!

Level 8 - 2827

With some mondo luck on level 5 I reached level 8. Level 5 requires too much luck imo

Theres a lot of luck needed with regard to where the ghosta appear at the start of each level.
Also, i wonder how many broken beebs and screens this game was responsible for?...

Yup, got to level 8, second time for me and still not even close to my other high score....so....scoring is a bit too random for me to be enjoying this much longer.

Can anyone join in, or do I have to have nominated some games at the start? This looks like good fun.

Haven't got my BBC anymore (regret selling it decades ago for cash towards an A3010), but playing on the emulators has brought back memories.

Never played Ghouls before yesterday, it took me about 50 lives to just get to the top in the first level, so I don't think there's any chance of me causing any disruption!

Pretty sure you just join in. I have participated (badly) before and this is my first nomination. :D

Good luck. This game is difficult! But the sound is cool.

Absolutely anyone may join in. This competition has a couple of points.....you've mentioned the main one, fun but you've also mentioned the other one and that is to learn a game new to you that you've never played before and learn about it eccentricities.

On the dreaded level 5 I lure the ghouls to the bottom rhs of the screen the get passed the spider when the lift blocks it

Yup, pretty much what I do too. The only thing that causes failure is anxiety of getting nailed by the spider. Lots of times I've lost a life because of that, instead of just doing what I normally would do once I'm at that point. I have gotten to level 8 a few times but my score seems abysmally low compared to others that are getting there. I really don't trust the scoring system on this which is too bad. Had it been programmed with something more 'predictable' I think it would be a better fit for the HSC.

I had never really taken any notice of the scoring previously when playing. It was always about how far we could get.

Yes, the game is fun and the object of all games is to try to go as far as you can in it.....and.....get the highest score possible. I've found this game to be very unreliable as to how high or low the score may become. I think the author tried to invent a new way to keep score and in my opinion, failed miserably in that. However, we are all on the same playing field so......

I'm struggling with the controls, either I don't jump or I jump twice, usually meaning death!
I have got to the power pill once, but the ghost things seems to start in a more awkward place each time!

It really depends where you double jump Tricky. If it's after jumping over the first spikes and then turning back to the next level platform up, it was suggested a while ago to just from the 2nd step instead of the top of that platform. When you double jump from there, for sure it's the kiss of death on the spikes.

Has it really been nearly five years since we last played this? Wow.

I won it last time, but I'm having trouble today. Might have to dig out the BBC Master and play it on a CRT for the precise timing this game needs.

1756 came from nowhere after seemingly endless 1200-1300 games.

It's been a while since I've been able to post a score.....9th level, 3 ghosts are nasty.

That should be close enough for you to want to play again Venger, remember, in this game, it takes a while to get a rhythm......

It does take a while to establish a good rhythm.

Once you do that, it tends to go much better and the fact is I've played this a million times I'm guessing.
