I cannot get the '*' key to work...
I've tried using the Default mapping and the Logical one without success.
Any thoughts anyone?

I've setup the user keyboard mapping so that the @ key is now the * key, which works on the BBC when I press it, but still no joy in the game itself...

Ok, I got it now.
Had to press ever key on the board to find it but finally found it.
So, my first score first thing in the morning so I may struggle to beat it.

Never actually liked this one BITD, preferred Arkanoid on the Speccy.
However, this one seems a tad easier.

As you collect the U shapes, the symbols in the bottom right box are underlined in turn.
Pressing the 'activate' key activates that powerup.

My score is rediculously low but I've not played this one before and don't really get how some of it works. Seems a good game though and if I get a chance I'm sure I'll beat this less-than-novice score.

One thing to note is that the U shapes when collected and not used give a bonus at the end of the level, 1000 points for each U collected.

Another thing to note is now that I know how to use the powerups my gameplay has gotten worse due to focusing on getting powerups :lol: ](*,)

1st Not sure : Makes invisible blocks visible
2nd Not sure : Destroys badies on screen
3rd Not sure : 3 missiles (destroy everything in their path)

Slowdown - 1 token
Halves the speed of the ball. May be selected more than once if you collect more tokens.

Magnet - 2 tokens
Allows you to catch the ball and hold it (for about two seconds).

Divide - 3 tokens
Splits the ball into three.

Wide - 4 tokens
Enlarges the bat.

Torch - 5 tokens
Lights up invisible bricks.

Laser - 6 tokens
When selected, you can fire laser bolts by pressing RETURN.

Smart bomb - 7 tokens
All aliens are removed from the screen and do not reappear.

Missile - 8 tokens
Up to three missiles can be launched, one at a time, by pressing RETURN. Missiles can destroy multi-hit bricks with a single hit.

Force field - 9 tokens
An invisible force-field encircles the ball and allows it to smash through bricks and aliens without being deflected. With the aid of the force-field, the ball can pass through, but not destroy indestructible bricks.

Ah missed your link in all the excitement :oops:

Helps to know about the aliens, sometimes they actually help by deflecting the ball to a few remaining bricks that the ball seems doggedly determined to bounce logically around and missing ](*,)

Couple of tips:
First job is to activate the magnet powerup. This enables you to aim the ball and also helps you collect other tokens.
After that, the extended bat helps as does the wrecking ball.
Those three powerups can be combined.

Also something to note - when you finish a screen, if you have collected some tokens then you get 1000 Bonus for each token that's been collected. I got 7 collected on one screen, finished the screen and got 7000 points in bonus.
