C64C Reasonable price...

Post by Prime » Fri May 31, 2019 8:20 am

Hi All,

I have a couple of C64C machines, they are both unboxed but would come with PSU and possibly C2N tape deck. As far as I am aware they are working, but would test / repair (if needed) before selling. They would also come complete, so I'm not going to pinch the SID chips for AtomSID / BeebSID :) :) :)

What would be a reasonable price to ask for them? I did a search on ebay completed listings and most of the similar systems where unsold because seller was asking LOLPRICE. The one that had sold went for about £56.

Would be selling as I have a couple of the earlier breadbin C64 machines and want to clear some space.

Cheers.

Phill.

Recently I sold a boxed, working breadbin C64 on Ebay for about £75, including C2N and some games. I started the auction at £25 so I reckon the final selling price represents the market value (on Ebay at least).

I don't know whether the C64C is worth more or less, but this might help as a starting point.

Check the PSU hasn't started going south (the 5V line starts creeping up!). :)

Phill, save yourself a load of hassle and just post them to me!

No idea what they are worth but people on this forum need to stop offering things I want.

Not sure this is a good idea, but what else do you want (apart from a larger place to store it all in)?

@Phill, when I bought a C64C some years ago on eBay, I think I paid about £50, but that was without the C2N.

Well if you want one of them I'm sure we can come to some arrangement :)

Cheers.

Cheers Phill.
I'd love one but I don't have time for the systems I've got at the moment. And our lass would kill me if I try to sneak another one in. She's still suspicious of the Amiga that suddenly appeared last year not to mention the two VGA monitors I came home with this morning.
Thanks anyway.

50 to 60 for a C, about 80 for a bread bin seems to be the current rates. A good Ebay listing listed to end on a Sunday night showing a working 64 should find its own level.

And yes, the PSU's are a menace these days. I reviewed a new replacement recently that I now use on my 64. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA_osVUbeb8

When testing your PSU for sale remember to test the voltage with the 64 plugged in and on. Otherwise you won't get an accurate result. As long as its within range when you sell it, it's the buyers problem when it fries the 64 a year down the road.
