Just looking at some of the other versions we have...

Does this offer an clues?

Looks like the value should be 3BFD

I'm not sure what the changes to line 40 are for though....

Also, this "Non Comm" version looks the same as the Program Power version. So maybe it should be marked as a duplicate?

Edit: It came from here:

Yep, that's the same so I think the non commercial version can be removed.
I looked at the othello version at acornatom.nl but that one had the same error.

Kees,

Thanks for those, they are now added.

I've been looking at the screen corruption with Program Power Chess. It didn't seem as bad with Atomulator, which zeros memory. Narrowing this down, it seems that memory from 0x0400 to 0x05FF is being read and copied to the screen. I haven't worked out why.

It might be better to go back to the original version and do a new conversion. Then at least we would know if the bug was original as well.

I've asked DaveM if he still has the tape.

In the mean time, I found this on one of Wouter's tape collections:
program_power__chess.zip
(16.86 KiB) Downloaded 12 times
It looks fairly original.

The screen corruption is one thing but after entering a few moves, it hangs.
Did you try Wouters version?

I've just converted Wouter's version to ATM.

It's a little bit different from the version that we had, but obviously the same program.

Can you try it and see if you can make it crash?

I don't have the tape, but I've found a FLAC recording of the original cassette - which I've just uploaded here:

Excellent, thanks.

I can confirm this version is identical to Wouter's (a few posts up), except it has a different serial number in CHESS (i.e. each copy is individually numbered).

So it looks like we have the original files now... :D

I've updated the current development snapshot (V10BETA5) for testing:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomSoftwar ... g/V10BETA5

The recent changes can be seen in the git history:
https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomSoftwar ... its/master

Kees, can you check the new version of Program Power Chess works correctly please?

Could you also confirm the cards look as expected in PONTOON?

The needs attention list is now down to two items:

Code: Select all

   878 F14-Tomcat - Replace with disk version
667 Mouse DOS box - Change mouse addresses to #BDE8/9/A
I think once we are done with this raft of changes I'm inclined to release this as V10, unless anyone else has anything to add (or has spotted any other broken titles).

Yes, CHESSPP that you uploaded is working

They look ok to me because there are only characters in the Wordpack rom.

I've added the updated MDBOX.
F14-Tomcat is ok but the SID version isn't.
I'll have a look at F14 Tomcat SID.....

It's not right though.

Look at the card with the "2" on it in the image you posted. The suit (probably clubs) is completely blank.

What was the bug then? It seemed pretty weird that it could only affect C when used as a card suit.

The addresses #21D-220 should contain the symbols 'CDHS'.
Line 50 was: !#21C=#53484443 and didn't fill address #220 and the 'C' was 1 address to low so not read.
I changed this !#21D=#53484443 and now all 4 address are filled with 'CDHS'

Dave

I see this is now page 39 ... is there a list of the "Really Missing" titles now, as opposed to the list on page 1 (or is the list on page 1 always current?)

Cheers

Phil
