Atom Memory

What is the easiest way to upgrade the Atom memory above the standard 12k? I would love to get my Atom to 32k to be able to play Chuckie Egg on the real machine! Any modern direct swap parts or plans available for a quick and dirty non-skilled upgrade?

Kees can tell you how to crank in a 32k sram, or you can see if Phill has any rom/ram boards knocking about still - £35 well spent!

The best way is to install Phill's RAM/ROM board with a lot of nice features.

The easiest way is to:

Code: Select all

- Remove IC5-6 and the 2114's IC10-19 + IC51-52
- Install a piece of veroboard, with a 32 kB RAM chip on it,
  over IC5-6 and IC 10-11/16-17
- Install pin-headers for the signals needed from the IC sockets on the veroboard
- Solder a wire from pin8 IC5 to pin7 IC49,
the bus PL6/7 is now opened for the addresses #BC00-#BFFF
The signals needed for the 32 kB RAM chip are:
