Atomic Galaforce update

Post by oss003 » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:20 pm

At last ..... an update for Galaforce for the Acorn Atom.
I added FX-sounds and music.

The TODO list is now:

- Adding Joystick support
- Testing levels/patterns

You can find a video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsaApN-uG-U

Looking good, Kees! (who'd have ever thought that the Atom was capable of running a game like Galaforce as well as this!!).

I don't think I'll ever get around to playing the Atom version, but I do really appreciate the dev. diary ... always interesting to read how things were/are done!

Thanks.

Well, Galaforce is a nicely programmed game with a lot of smart gaming techniques. =D>
It was not only programming the Atom but also an 'exploring the BBC/Electron' journey.
I liked programming and I learned a lot with this conversion.

Greetings
Kees

I played the demo at Replay and was astounded how fast this game runs! So smooth and fast its hard to believe an Atom can do that and I think it puts many other systems to shame.

Keep up the good work =D>

Ahh, the speed you're referring to may have been because Phill was mostly running his Atom with the Turbo board enabled at Replay, in order to remove the usual Atom graphical snow effect.

The video Kees posted is at the normal playable speed ...

Sam.
