My wife saw on Ebay that I'd put a watch on it, thought I was bidding on it and phoned me at work to tell me off, of course innocent me wasn't bidding on it I was just interested to see what it would go for
Or even some modern parts.....it prolly cost me much more than that to develop and make the Atom Clone, however when I started working on it Atoms where getting scarce on ebay and it didn't look like I'd ever get one unless I built it !flynnjs wrote:Another one just gone for £144. Given the cost of obtaining the legacy parts to build one these figures aren't unrealistic.
Later on I got lucky and bagged a couple of sold as seen / for spares (seller was upfront about this), still cost me £90 odd, mind I did get both working in the end but one of them required quite a lot of work.
Mind most of the Atom is standard chips LS/RAM/6502/8255 which are still available if you know where to look. The hard to get hold of parts are the 6847 and the 82LS buffers, mind at least the buffers can be replaced by standard LS ones if you are prepared to do some re-wiring.
