Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

I’ve just built hoglets Atom to HDMI board....and it works too....

What do you do if there are lower case letters in a program and you can’t input them.....am I missing something obvious.

Just use the shift key (e.g. Shift-A), it will be displayed in inverse video, but that's expected.

The 6847 Charater ROM doesn't contain lower case.

I have also built your noise killer but can’t tell if it’s running or not, I can’t see any difference in the screen display, it’s good without it and with it......does it need to be activated or does it just sit there and do it’s thing....

If you remove LK3 (LKEN) then you should see lots of screen noise (which will be really obvious with that test program)

Hi Dave,

I tried the test program yesterday when I finished assembling the noise killer.

The screen wasn’t scrambled like the before photo you pointed me too, and when I ran it, it did everything you described would happen, but no real difference to the output....as it was good anyway.

I’ll try it with the HDMI board tomorrow.

The Atom manual (Atomic Theory and Practise) is on its way to you so you can read and learn how the Atom behaves.

If you can't see any noise on the screen then remove the noise killer board, reinstall the right most 2114's back in the video memory and run the test program. However, if you can't see any noise with the board installed then you shouldn't bother. Believe me, the noise is only irritating and you're better off without it

I ran the test as instructed, everything looks fine, fuzzy then clear....great stuff.
I was worried I hadn’t assembled it properly......another success....my soldering is improving.

Just waiting on my YARRB2 and AtoMMC to arrive with a copy of Atomic Theory and Practise to keep me right.

I’ve now completed upgrading my Atom........for now......with,

A YARRB2 and AtoMMC from Roland......great devices.....thanks Roland.

A VIDEO to HDMI adapter and a NOISE KILLER from Hoglet, more great devices....thanks Hoglet (Dave).

All now up and running nicely.
